Job Title: Front End DeveloperLocation: LondonSalary: £40,000 to £55,000Job Type: PermanentCloudwise Solutions is currently working with a startup which has recently acquired a highly regarded, revenue earning software product which provides geolocation based insights to the Retail and Real Estate sectors. Already deployed and revenue earning in two European countries, with existing clients looking for further expansion into Europe, and a focus on releasing its potential across emerging markets, they aim to become a global player in location based analytics in our chosen sectors. They are looking to build a diverse, world class team of Developers, Data Scientists and Product Specialists to unleash the true potential of this product through the use of cutting edge technologies and techniques - to meet and exceed the demands of both developed and emerging markets globally.Currently with a small team of senior leaders based across offices in London and Johannesburg, South Africa, this is a fantastic opportunity to get in at the ground level and be part of shaping the success of this organisation.The RoleYou will be an early recruit to our Software Engineering team, and play a leading role in shaping the look, feel and user experience of our Product as we write the next chapter of its story. You will bring to life in full colour all of the great features and functionality that are already in our Producct Roadmap as a result of early Client workshop sessions. You’ll have the opportunity to learn all about our Product from its original architect, covering all elements of the tech stack and sitting in on the core Transition Process where you’ll also be exposed to the Data Platform and Pipeline and understand the true potential of KDB+/q, the underlying technology upon which the Product is built.The Software Engineering team will grow alongside the Data Science team, collaborating effectively to develop and deploy new functionalities in accordance with the Product Road Map which drive highly valuable insights to clients within the chosen sectors. You will play a ccritical role in the Engineering team, being skilled in all aspects of Front End work across a varied tech stack and highly proficient in UI/UX design, and ideally bringing with you some background knowledge in geo-location or map based products as this is will enable you to add value from Day 1.You will work under the guidance of the Senior Software Engineer to initially assist in bug fixes and feature enhancements to the Product for the current markets, as well as development work on the minimum viable product for launch in the Africas later in the year. We have a "Less, but Better" approach to functionality and design and as such expect to streamline product functionality to only those key features that drive real value for our clients. You will be key in heavily influencing that redesign as well as envisioning and bringing to life new functionalities that are as yet still on the drawing board. Ultimately, you will play a key role in the effort of creating a feature rich, globally scalable product for deployment in multiple international markets in an area that is very new and innovative - and in huge demand. Down the line, it is expected that other products will be concieved that you will need to work on from scratch.Come help us unlock our product’s true potential and give it a face we can be proud of- and make a dent in the geo-analytics universe.TECH STACK: Google Cloud, Kubernetes, kdb+ and Postgres databases. Back end: Python (Flask, Django, SQLAlchemy, Graphene, Pandas, Numpy and Fast.a). Front end: Javascript (NodeJS) with TypeScript, React, Apollo, Mapbox-GL, Ant Design. Fully automated CICD using GitLab.Requirements• 3-5 years experience in working on client/market facing product, ideally in a SaaS type environment• 2:1 STEM degree from reputable university and A or A* in Mathematics A Level, or equivalent• Experienced in developing front end web applications using React, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript and Git.• Experience working with MapBoxGL, Open StreetMap or equivalent• Experienced eye for design and visual aesthetics and attention to detail• Expertise in using design patterns to create simple and reusable components for complex UIs• Strong communication skills and the ability to draft and visually communicate UI design• Strong work ethic that drives you to achieve and get things done• Self-driven, with and conscientious mentality and a commitment to innovate with high- quality work.• A team player mentality - team achievements are more important than your own• Experience in working on multilingual, international productsDesirable• Working with geolocation/geospatial data and mapping tools• Foreign language (French, Spanish, German) - written and spoken• Active and varied interests outside of the work environment
