Job Description

What are we looking forRequirements:

  • University degree in Finance, Economics,Engineering, or similar.
  • Preferably more than 5 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Existing client relationships a plus.
  • Good knowledge of Western European Debt and European Flow Rates Derivatives.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, communication and technical skills.
  • Entrepeneurial mind-set, strong ability to drive projects and push them over the line.

In case the candidate is not certified, they will have to obtain the pertaining certification upon the incorporation to the role.OverviewThis role will be based in London and will involve covering US and Canadian institutional investors (Hedge Funds Real Money) for the distribution of the European rates product, including bonds and derivatives. Emphasis will be on the debt of Spain, Italy,Portugal and Greece, as well as on European flow rates derivatives, including inflation.About the job:The specialist will be employed by BBVA SA and have the ability to offer US and Canadian clients new bond offerings and secondary market trades pursuant to the 15a-6 agreement between BBVA Securities and BBVA S.A. The role requires travelling to North Americaand to Spain.The salesperson is expected to have a deep understanding of bonds and derivatives, with a focus on European rates market dynamics, in order to be able to offer specialised product coverage to clients. As such, the role entails working with theEuropean rates trading desks of BBVA and keeping up-to-date and informed of developments in Europe and elsewhere, including from general market, macro, economic, credit, policy, and political perspectives. Furthermore, the salesperson needs to be up-to-datewith regulatory and MiFid related issues, as well as be well versed in the processes of trade execution, confirmation, booking and settlement.Responsibilities:
  • Covering primarily US based clients with respect to trading European debt and flow derivatives products.
  • Liaising with various BBVA trading desks with respect to pricing, market information and execution.
  • Developing new investor relationships in the USA.
  • Opening clients for rates derivatives trading in the USA with BBVA SA.
  • Backing up sales colleagues in London (for UK investors) and NY when necessary.
