Job Description

Job Title: Financial Reporting AccountantLocation: London (hybrid working)Contract Length: 3 monthsRole Overview:This role sits within the Financial Accounting & Reporting team, whose main responsibilities are the production of the Groups IFRS external disclosures and other regulatory reporting. This role specifically supports the end-to-end financial reporting processunderlying the production of the Groups IFRS financial statements reported to the stock markets. It entails calculation, consolidation and preparation of external disclosures together with reporting and analysis of the data. It also includes elements of processimprovement through supporting the final stages of Workiva implementation ahead of the full year 2023 reporting cycle.The role will be of interest to candidates looking to develop financial reporting experience within a listed company environment and represents an excellent opportunity to join a team in which to develop technical knowledge, reporting and analytical expertise.The ideal candidate will be a newly qualified accountant with experience in the insurance industry and a desire to quickly learn and develop. They will have strong analytical review skills coupled with commercial sense, pragmatism and good communication skills.Key Responsibilities:

  • Updating assigned financial disclosures in line with the latest 2023 pro forma financial statements (updated to reflect the adoption of IFRS 17) built within the Workiva environment, ahead of full year 2023 reporting;
  • Preparation of assigned financial disclosures within the IFRS consolidated financial statements, including liaison with business units and/or third parties, review and challenge of business unit financial result submissions
  • Develop effective relationships with key stakeholders within the head office functions to deliver the products for IFRS financial statements and other external reporting
  • Assist in the analysis of Group results across external reporting matrices for the Group Audit Committee, Group Disclosure Committee and the Board
  • Relationship Management - Maintain effective working relationships with relevant business unit teams and across head office, ensuring that Group reporting needs are communicated and understood.
  • Financial and Regulatory Reporting - consolidation and analysis - Work with our business units to coordinate and obtain detailed information. Analyse and calculate adjustments for the Group results. Analyse the results and respond to senior management reviewquestions.
  • Technical Knowledge - Learn quickly about Prudential and the way we work. In particular, gain an understanding of financial reporting processes and our finance systems.
  • Financial Control and Audit - Ensure that a clear audit trail exists and that controls are performed effectively and documented. Provide timely and accurate responses to the internal and external auditors.
Requirements & Skills:
  • Fully Qualified Accountant with relevant degree
  • Insurance industry experience
  • Track record of delivering a high-quality product to tight deadlines;
  • Attention to detail and accuracy, together with an ability to focus on the big picture;
  • Strong technical, analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Ability to adapt to changing requirements and work within a team;
  • Proactive and self-driven, able to work to plan and co-ordinate activities effectively;
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Teams);
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with an ability to build effective relationships and communicate effectively with stakeholders across different specialisms and different levels of seniority.
