Job Description

Financial Modelling AnalystAn exciting opportunity has arisen to join a large and growing business as the Financial Modelling Analyst. The Group is owned by reputable renewable infrastructure investors and has a large portfolio of Anaerobic Digestion plants across England, Scotland and Ireland.This role reports to the Group Finance Director will be employed by the Group and will oversee the financial performance of the Group, support strategic decisions and business development activities.The role will assume responsibility for financial forecasting, financial modelling, debt reporting, variance analysis, new acquisition or other growth opportunities analysis.The role will work closely with the finance teams across the Group to ensure accurate reporting and will be responsible for evaluating the financial performance of the assets and the Group by comparing and analysing actuals results with investment plans and forecasts.Duties will cover the full spectrum of financial modelling and analysis, including guiding the costs analysis process by establishing and enforcing policies and procedures, providing analysis of trends and recommending actions for optimisation by analysing and interpreting data and making comparative analysis. On the business development side, it will work with the investment directors at the funds, providing modelling and financial analysis and general acquisition support as part of the acquisition process.A key focus will be to increase productivity by developing standardised and automated reporting/forecasting tools across the portfolio of assets.The candidate will be a talented, professional and experienced individual, capable of managing a diverse list of tasks as well as leading and managing Group reporting. This role involves liaising with departments across the portfolio of assets, supporting them in managing their budgets and financial planning.Outlined below are a number of standard duties that this job role entails.Key responsibilities:

  • Ensuring accurate modelling of portfolio assets, enhancing existing models and developing new transaction models as required
  • Reporting on historic budget and forecast shareholder distributions and asset life IRR
  • Building financial models using historical data and providing forecasts based on various industry-related operating metrics.
  • Conducting scenario analysis based on macro and micro factors that will help in assessing risk
  • Evaluating the financial performance of the assets and the Group by comparing and analysing actuals results with investment plans and forecasts.
  • Assisting in the preparation and modelling Group forecasts
  • Assisting in identification and mitigation of finance risk
  • Applying appropriate sensitivity and scenario analysis to support investment actions.
  • Updating all financial models
  • Analysing and identifying data requirements and model tracking
  • Preparation of models for valuation purposes and stakeholder reporting
  • Capital structure analysis
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of treasury, financial instruments, market conditions and trends
  • Ad hoc Group Reporting
  • The Ideal Candidate:
  • ACA/CA or CFA qualification preferred
  • 2-3 years of financial modelling and forecasting experience required within the investment, banking or financial advisory sectors Worked on renewable energy / PE / Infrastructure investments is preferable
  • Must have experience building financial models from scratch using industry best practice
  • Highly proficient in financial modelling techniques
  • Strong fluency with Excel formulas and functions
  • Strong analytical and data gathering skills
  • Good business acumen
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to persuade and influence
