Job Description

Financial Crime Compliance AssistantLondonHybrid12 Month FTCIntroThe Financial Crime Compliance team (FCC) forms part of Saffery Champnesss Risk Management Practice and sits within the Compliance department. Its primary purpose is to support the Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) in ensuring that the firm dischargesits legal and regulatory responsibilities in the areas of Anti-Money Laundering (AML) regulation.This role is based out of our London office and will require the successful candidate to be within commuting distance to attend the office at least 2 times per week.The roleFollowing in depth training, the candidate will be required to work to a high level of accuracy to prescribed processes including:

  • Performing third party tool and system research as part of KYC (Know-Your-Client) procedures.
  • Completing documentation analysis of KYC information to validate client information and assess client risks.
  • Where information is missing or not in the public domain, interacting with stakeholders including the client-facing practice.
  • Managing the KYC refresh processes through to completion or escalate the client for management approval.
  • Ensuring that the firm are where they should be in terms of governance and client compliance.
  • Completing new client due diligence to ensure our prospective clients are the right clients for us.
The successful candidate will report to the FCC Assistant Manager.YouAlthough some experience in financial crime ideally in the accountancy or legal sector, would benefit the role holder, this is by no means essential. We are also keen to speak with highly motivated graduates who identify with the attributes outlined belowand that demonstrate a can-do attitude. We are looking for somebody who has the following attributes:
  • Enthusiastic about developing themselves and has the ability to look beyond the surface when situations dont seem black and white.
  • Has an aptitude for digesting information and providing guidance to client-facing practitioners whilst being highly motivated and confident to work independently, but with support from more experienced subject matters experts.
  • Adaptive and open-minded when things dont go to plan.
  • Excellent communication skills and confident enough to have difficult conversations with high level stakeholders both in person, and on the phone.
  • Proven ability to quickly understand and multi-task across several IT applications, including Microsoft Word and Excel, as a minimum.
  • Strong literacy / numeracy with excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work to specified KPIs and demanding deadlines
  • Proven ability to absorb, understand and build an understanding of complex information and articulate the same in a specified format.
Salary/benefits
  • A 35-hour working week with flexibility around the core hours of 10am-4pm
  • Agile working policy giving you the option to work from home for up to 3 days per week.
  • Paid overtime or time off in lieu.
  • 20 days annual leave. Note this is increasing to 25 days from January 2023. After 5 years service, the entitlement will be increased by 1 day
  • In addition, employees are entitled to buy or sell up to 5 days holiday a year
  • Contributory pension scheme (The firm will contribute 5% of salary on a matched basis with employee from their date of joining)
  • Life assurance cover of 4 x annual salary,
  • Working from home allowance of £25 a month.
  • Eligibility for the firms Profit-Sharing Plan that runs from October to September each year. The scheme enables staff to share in the profits of the firm. Payment is usually c£1,000. Paid in December.
  • Employee referral scheme. Assistant Manager level and below, including support staff, will attract a referral reward of £5,000, Manager level or above, will attract a referral reward of £10,000.
  • New client referral scheme. Members of staff introducing a new client to the firm, have the potential to receive a referral payment of up to 10% of the first years total fees.
