Job Description

Altum are partnering with an innovative non-profit organisation dedicated to improving the quality of life and promoting sustainable development in vulnerable communities across the globe to recruit a personable and proactive Financial Controller.The Financial Controller will oversee the financial operations, reporting, compliance, and effective financial management across the organisation as well as taking full ownership of the finance system. You will work closely with the senior management teamand contribute to the strategic decision-making process to achieve the Foundations goals as well as managing and developing a small team of two.Responsibilities will include;

  • Provide leadership and direction to a finance team of two, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and best practices.
  • Management and financial accounts preparation including administration budgets and forecasts
  • Prepare and present accurate and timely financial reports, statements to the senior management team, the board of directors, and external stakeholders.
  • Oversee cash flow management, treasury functions, and banking relationships to ensure adequate liquidity and efficient use of financial resources.
  • Administration, management and reporting of donations
  • Continue to embed, develop and maintain the recently implemented finance system
  • Coordinate and support the annual external audit process, liaising with auditors and addressing any audit findings or recommendations
The ideal candidate;
  • Will be a fully qualified CCAB accountant or equivalent
  • Have experience in preparing financial and management accounts
  • Have experience of charity accounts although not essential
  • Possess excellent communication skills; written, verbal and presentation
  • Be proactive, a problem solver and an enabler
  • Have an interest in international development/charity
