Job Description

A top10 Lloyds Managing Agent is looking for an experience and technically competent accountant to join the team because of internal promotions. Reporting to the Syndicate Financial Controller, this role is responsible for leading an onshore team of two direct reports, a small offshore outsourced team & managing the effective production of the syndicate result & balance sheet. This is a great stepping stone in to a managerial role whilst developing your project accounting experience and taking ownership of the results. The key responsibilities of this role will be:

  • Managing the delivery of the syndicate result & the production of the balance sheet
  • Support the Syndicate Financial Controller in various monthly and quarterly accounting activities
  • Review key reporting controls, including developing additional controls onshore and offshore to guarantee the integrity of values throughout the Syndicate ledgers
  • Liaison with the external auditor, ensuring that all the information required is produced and the audit is completed on time
  • Working with various teams across the business; Actuarial, Operations, Underwriting Support, Claims, Outwards Reinsurance to ensure accurate day-to-day accounting within the syndicates
  • Provide analysis and insight into specific areas of the financial results, including building analytical models and performing deep dives
  • Contribute new ideas for fresh analysis, improvement of process and for making better use of technology
  • Investigate and analyse issues that arise, and provide summaries and recommendations to the Syndicate Financial Controller
    • To be considered for this role you will need to be qualified (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) with several year post qual experience gained in a Lloyds/London Market insurance firm. You will need a practical understanding of insurance accounting and how the technical results are formed.
