Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Financial Accounting & Control Manager to join this unique and exciting but extremely complex organisation based in the heart of London.In this exciting senior financial accounting leadership role, you will manage, motivate and develop the Financial Accounting and Control team, preparing statutory financial reporting for a range of complex entities, overseeing period-end processes, and ensuringstrong financial controls and good balance sheet management.Reporting to the Head of Finance, the post holder will lead a team and provide technical financial expertise, with all financial accounting and statutory reporting activities.Your key responsibilities, will include:

  • Responsible for ensuring a strong financial control environment is maintained and that all income and expenditure (including capital expenditure) is correctly accounted for
  • Managing the delivery of a smooth, well-controlled and timely month-end and year-end timetable, working with the Financial Accounting Officers to develop and improve this in line with best-practice
  • Ensuring that the balance sheet is well managed, providing oversight of banking, cash management and cashflow forecasting, ensuring that there is sufficient cash to maintain the liquidity of all the various division and directorates
  • Setting, agreeing and managing the year end timetable and communication with internal and external stakeholders
  • Managing the external audit process, including being the primary point of contact with the auditors in planning and delivering the audit
  • Drafting the Board and Committee reporting to support the presentation of the Accounts and presenting draft accounts for review and sign-off on behalf of the trustees
  • Ensuring effective cash management, including the development of regular cash flow reporting as required by each entity
  • Responsible for managing, training and developing a team of 9
The successful accountant will be an ACA/ACCA/CIMA/CIPFA qualified accountant with post qualified experience. You must be a technically astute individual and a strong manager with the ability to lead and develop individuals to ensure the delivery of first-classfinancial data and controls within tight deadlines. You must possess significant financial accounting experience with up-to-date knowledge of reporting under IFRS102 and Charities SORP.You must be an excellent communicator; you will be able to build effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders and will work collaboratively with the rest of the Finance team to build strong internal control processes. A working knowledge ofSAP, although not essential, would provide a distinct advantage.
