Job Description

Job Overview

  • Responsible for the preparation, completion and consolidation of the Quarterly and Year-end Actual accounting and reports including analytical analysis and commentary
  • Responsible for the preparation, completion and consolidation of Planning and Forecast reporting, including analytical analysis and commentary
  • Assist in the Quarterly and Year-end Audit process
  • Prepare Tax reporting for the UK Branch, specifically covering Corporation Tax, Deferred Tax, PSA and Regulatory reporting
  • To Support the Financial Reporting and Tax Manager to meet the Financial Reporting and Control function objectives to a high standard. Developing engagement with business teams to deliver strategic goals
  • Job ResponsibilitiesFinancial Reporting and Control:
  • Responsible for the preparation, completion and consolidation of the Quarterly and Year-end accounting, including analytical analysis and commentary
  • Responsible for preparation and completion of financial reports
  • Prepare variance analysis and investigate and resolve queries raised by the business
  • Ensure that expenses are allocated correctly.
  • Prepare and complete reconciliations and associated inter-company transactions including recharges
  • Prepare and complete accruals and prepayments, and fixed asset register/depreciation schedules
  • Contribute towards implementation of improved control regime in the area of expense management, accruals and prepayments.
  • Prepare and post monthly, quarterly accounting entries and journals to the ledger
  • Manage and control the preparation of reconciliations for all balance sheet accounts.
  • Prepare and complete reporting timetable, aligned to Group reporting deadlines
  • Assist preparation and completion of Corporation Tax, Deferred Tax, Transfer Pricing, SAO, PSA tax schedules and other tax matters as requested by line manager
  • Assist on internal and external audit processes as requested by line manager
  • Complete and maintain existing accounting process documentation and process maps
  • Financial Control:
  • Maintain controls for Financial Reporting and Tax team
  • Prepare and complete reconciliations and recharges
  • Leadership:
  • Engage with business teams to investigate and resolve expense queries
  • Financially aware dynamic person, supporting the Financial Reporting and Tax Manager to support business teams
  • Process Improvement:
  • Identify and enhance the quality and value of processes for your area of work
  • Project Management:
  • End to end project management for functional projects and contribute to any Branch wide projects
  • Risk and Controls:
  • Design, implement and maintain process controls to ensure the quality of the output for your area/team within the function. Ensure documentation of the processes and output is accurate, up-to-date and accessible
  • Reporting:
  • Design, deliver, develop and analyse reports, identify and recommend solutions to reporting issues in line with group/branch requirements
  • General:
  • Adhere to all local and Group guidelines

  • Experience required:
  • MS Office - Competent
  • SAP experience
  • Previously worked within the Insurance industry
  • Part qualified or fully qualified

  • Confident and self-motivated, able to work under pressure
  • Drive for continuous process improvement
  • Education & Qualifications:
  • Degree or equivalent
  • Studying Accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CA) or equivalent
  • Professional:
  • Part qualified or fully qualified accountant with experience in Insurance industry
  • Experience in Financial Accounting, Tax and Regulatory Reporting
  • Strong financial control mind-set
