Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity for a meticulous and diligent Financial Accountant to join this Government Department to play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth running of the financial year-end accounting procedures.Client DetailsOur client is a large, well-established Central Government Department, based in London.DescriptionThe Financial Accountant will be responsible for:

  • Preparing and reviewing year-end financial statements submitted by Arms Length Bodies to ensure they are complete, accurate and submitted.
  • Supporting Arms Length Bodies in the resolution of accounting (and budgetary) issues.
  • Working as an intermediary between Arms Length Bodies to resolve any mismatches.
  • Preparing adjusting accruals as necessary.
  • Reviewing accounts to ensure conformity with Government Financial Reporting Manual (FReM).
  • Liaising with the National Audit Office and ensuring all documentation is available for audit.
ProfileThe successful Financial Accountant will be at least 2 years qualified (eg ACA, ACCA, CIPFA) and have experience of producing/auditing accounts (ideally consolidated).Previous exposure to Central Government finance accounting is preferred. Excellent Excel skills are essential.This role is a 100% remote position, so you will need to be able to work this way.Job Offer
