Job Description

My client, a fast growing Asset Finance provider to the maritime sector, is seeking a "hands on" Finance Director with a Shipping and/or Asset Financing background.This is a senior management role to work with the Chief Executive Officer, other senior executive managers and external stakeholders to develop and implement the strategy for performance and growth. The individual will take a leading role in the management of relationships with equity and debt providers and, together with the CEO and Board, lead future liquidity and/or exit events. The role will also develop and formalise robust financial control and reporting systems and develop a finance team, both central and regional, to support the management and growth of the business.Key Responsibilities (summarised)

  • To work as a partner with the Chief Executive Officer in developing and overseeing the implementation of the Corporate Strategy to underpin the growth of the business. Growth will be both organic (people and assets) and in the form of acquisitions and international expansion.
  • To develop an effective financial reporting team who will be responsible for the group FP&A, tax, internal audit and technical accounting functions
  • Responsible for financial governance of the group including establishing and review of company policies and procedures to ensure efficient and effective financial management across the group.
  • Manage Treasury, producing regular cash flow forecasts and reporting actuals against those forecasts.
  • To play a key role in the strategic development and review process for the group, challenging assumptions and providing the CEO and Board with financial insight to create a rigorous environment for effective strategic decision making and planning.
    • Qualifications
  • A qualified accountant with post qualification experience as a Finance Director or Financial Controller in the lending industry ideally with exposure to Shipping Finance.
  • Experience of developing financial strategies and contributing to the broader commercial development of a business.
  • Highly commercial, with proven experience of adding value to businesses.
  • A strong ability to put in place financial systems and process to establish budgetary management and control within an organization.
  • The ability to understand complex international legal and tax rules and their structures.
  • Strong academic background, ideally with prior Big Four experience
