Job Description

University is seeking an experienced Student Finance Administrator to support their Student Services team at their West London campus.This is a temporary role to start ASAP and will pay £15.00 per hour.This is an office based role working 9am to 5pm, Monday to FridayThe Student Finance Administrator will work within a team to provide excellent customer service to students and staff, with particular emphasis on the data input, administration and payment of the Unis Scholarship & Bursary funds for further and higher educationstudents. Duties include:

  • To provide information, advice and guidance to students regarding scholarships, bursaries and hardship funding.
  • To maintain accurate student records for scholarships and bursaries, including inputting data into the UNIT-e student records system and the Student Loans Company Bursary Administration Service (BAS), and to run reports where required.
  • To assist students in submitting complete Discretionary Support Fund application forms and supporting materials, and to collate files for assessment by a Student Money Advisor prior to consideration.
  • To provide excellent customer service to students at all times; assisting with face-to-face queries at the Student Services front desk; answering telephone calls and responding to all emails in a timely manner.
  • To maintain appropriate levels of confidentiality, particularly in relation to students financial information or personal data.
  • To maintain accurate records and files in accordance with university policies and procedures, and to ensure that these are held in line with applicable legislation.
The ideal Finance Administrator will have the following knowledge, skills and experience:
  • Previous experience of working in a similar finance role.
  • Excellent numeracy and literacy skills
  • Experience of providing excellent customer service in person, by telephone and via email.
  • Experience of accurately inputting and maintaining detailed and complex records in large databases
  • Familiarity with processing payments using an online administration system such as SLCs BAS (formerly HEBSS)
  • Experience of working in Higher Education is desirable, but not essential
  • Familiarity with one or more student records systems used in HE or FE is desirable
  • Understanding of statutory funding available to students including: Student Loans Company, NHS student funding and Skills Funding Agency is desirable
  • Excellent IT skills, especially in MS Office applications including Excel, databases and email
  • Excellent understanding of data integrity, manipulation and attention to detail regarding data quality
  • Ability to deal with queries and solve problems using an analytical and solution-focused approach
  • Respect for a high level of confidentiality in line with GDPR and Student Services privacy policy
