Job Description

As a seasoned professional you will have over 3 years strong Fibre/Splicing experience.This is an exciting opportunity to join this SMART IOT Company who are looking for a Fibre Splicing Engineer to ensure new and existing networks are deployed and maintained to a high standard. You will have responsibility for the implementation of our new expansion projects using the UG infrastructure within the confines of the Clients location and within an MDU environment. If you are an experienced fibre (FTTP), telecoms-focused network engineer who would like to join our motivated and enthusiastic teams delivering high standards of connectivity through a mixture of technologies to our rural communities then this is the job for you!This client seeks Fibre engineers who typically have a flexible working approach, thrive on solving problems under time pressure, are comfortable working at heights, have networking skills, and high levels of commitment and customer focus to deliver solutions that work. Working on just one location based Monday to Friday, hours of work 8.30am to 5.30pm plus paid overtime.Role & Responsibilities:Install, terminate and test on all fibre optic cable types -SM/MM - 8 core up to 288 core fibre cables.Advanced Fibre optic testing -OTDR/ILM/CD/PMD.Installation of closures, couplers, ODf’s and cabinets.Execution and Maintenance/fault finding on existing fibre optic infrastructure.In constant communication with the Project Manager to assist with completion of fibre works.The usage of plant, materials, care of tools and equipment in a way to minimize unnecessary waste and damage.Adherence to all health and safety practises.Ensure to bring sufficient hardware & tools out to site each day.Ensure all daily reporting, fibre characterization and documentation is mailed to the Project Manager daily.Identify quality problems and recommend solutions. Report back to Project Manager any compliance issues.Understand the Safety & Environmental Policies ensure all activities carried out complies with the risk assessment and method statements.Ensure adherence to safe working practices at all times.Skills & Qualifications required:Organised and proactive approach to workAbility to work in a strong team environmentExcellent communication skillsA high level of diplomacy and customer focusedExcellent time-management skillsAbility to manage stress and have strong emotional resilienceFlexible approach and positive attitude to workMaintaining a high level of integrity and confidentiality is keyOTDR Experience -EXFO, CMANETTEST, ANRITSU, NOYES or similarFusion splicing -Fujikura,INNO60s, 70s or similar5 year working hands on experience with Fibre optics products fusion splicing and testing Worked on a live network for 3 years or moreAbility to read and understand Visio straight line diagrams, be able to use Exfo Fast reporter software.Ability to use computer applications such as MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Visio and to learn new computer skills where requiredKnowledge of or currently be working to PIA standardsTesting, particularly PIA qualifications.Lots of motivation when lone working but also be a great team playerAbility to analyse and solve problems whilst under pressureComfortable working at heightsSelf-motivated with a high degree of initiativeAble to manage your own workload and hit the ground running Required skills
