Job Description

We are looking for a keen and enthusiastic student for an exciting Fabric, Trim and Garment Tech development work placement. They will experience the full process of luxury fabric development - from initial research through to delivery of final lengths andsupport the Garment tech team in all aspects of development.Students in this position are an integral part of our team and will work closely with the development team across all collections. Working within a fast-paced environment, the candidate will get an insight into the full company dynamic, from design and developmentthrough to production. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is driven, detailed orientated and had has a passion for developing beautiful RTW collections for a world-renowned British brand.Main Duties and Responsibilities:This placement will have dual role.FABRIC & TRIM DEVELOPMENT3 DAYS/WEEK

  • Assisting the Fabric & Trim Development team on daily tasks. Updating fabric & trim development boards. Pricing seasonal fabric collections. Local component or trim sourcing. Creating seasonal sales fabric book. Unpacking, labelling and logging in fabricpackages and rolls. Creating and monitoring shipments for new season packages. General studio up-keep and organising; ensuring the studio and Fabric Development areas are clean and tidy, organising reference folders of fabrics and trim qualities. Dressingat our Main Collection Shows at London Fashion week.
GARMENT TECH DEVELOPMENT2 DAYS/ WEEK
  • Tech Pack admin management, setting up tech packs, assisting with CADs and seam construction cards. Managing Seasonal fabric and design swatches with atelier, including fuse testing, shrink testing standard seam trials and style specific seam trials. ToileArchive management Preparation for production fit meetings, room set up and managing photo logging. Measuring and QC SMS samples. Assisting Garment tech team on daily tasks, including creating and tracking shipments, filing, and organising samples.
The ideal candidate:
  • A Student undertaking their Degree Work Placement studying a Textile or Fashion related degree.
  • Hands on can-do attitude with an exceptional work ethic
  • Ability to think on their feet with excellent problem-solving skills
  • Highly organized, able to work independently and prioritise tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Reliable and eager to learn.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills Some understanding of fabric characteristic is desired, but not essential. Knowledge of Microsoft Office programmesspecifically Excel Strong interest in garment development, and basic understanding of patternsand construction.
Duration + Start Date:
  • Duration of the work placement: minimum. 6 months
  • Starting from September 2022
What you will learn/what we will teach you:
  • The process and steps involved in the fabric & trim development department of a high-end Womenswear Collection. A strong working knowledge of materials and their properties
  • How a luxury label operates day to day; send outs, fabric organisations, UPS/logistics, meeting suppliers/manufacturers, internal meetings.
  • How to meet a tight deadline under pressure.
  • Strong understanding of developing garments, garment construction and processes to achieve high quality standards in a luxury fashion house.
  • Introductory level of fabric and sample testing
  • A great understanding of the team dynamics in a fast-paced luxury- high end fashion environment
