Job Description

Support our students! We are looking to hire casual Examinations Invigilators for various exam periods to help to supervise the conduct of students in examinations at Harris Boys Academy East Dulwich. Hours of work will be as notified in advance by theExaminations Officer.About UsHarris Boys Academy East Dulwich opened in September 2009 and is part of the Outstanding Harris Federation. The academys specialisms are Enterprise and Sport with a can-do ethos of always improving upon your personal best.The Academy will accommodate 750 boys when full. Harris Boys benefits from a state-of-the-art purpose-built building with the very latest facilities and equipment. The Academy offers a co-educational Post 16 with the nearby Harris Girls Academy, togethercomprising capacity for 400 Sixth Formers. Harris Boys was judged to be an outstanding school by Ofsted in December 2011.Academy EthosWe encourage our students to be critical thinkers and promote these skills throughout the curriculum. Peter Groves, Executive PrincipalMain Areas of ResponsibilityTo support the Exams Officer with the day-to-day operation of examination venues. Activities may include:

  • Assisting with setting-up examination venues by laying out stationery, equipment and examination papers in accordance with strict procedures.
  • Assisting candidates prior to the start of examinations by directing them to their seats and advising them about possessions permitted in examination venues.
  • Ensuring that candidates do not talk once inside examination venues.
  • Invigilating during examinations, dealing with queries raised by candidates and dealing with examination irregularities in accordance with strict procedures.
  • Checking attendance during examinations.
  • Recording details of late arrivals.
  • Escorting candidates from venues during the examinations as required, and supervising candidates whilst outside examination venues.
  • Collecting and collating scripts at the end of the examination in accordance with strict procedures.
  • Assisting with the preparation of script envelopes.
  • Supervising candidates leaving examination venues, ensuring that candidates do not remove equipment or stationery from the venue without authorisation and ensuring that candidates leave venues in an orderly and quiet manner.
To assist Examinations Office staff with other examination processes. Activities may include:
  • Assisting with the packing of examination papers, stationery and equipment prior to the examinations and the delivery to and from venues as appropriate.
  • Assisting with the preparation of seating plans.
