Job Description

The Events and Philanthropy Manager is responsible for driving and developing the Events and Major Donor StrategiesManaging the introduction of new cultivation and stewardship events to ensure our long-term sustainability.Client DetailsA UK charity, dedicated to supporting people affected by spinal cord injury get the most out of life.Description

  • Manage, support and develop the Events team currently consisting of an events fundraiser and events assistant
  • Develop, inspire and build relationships with our volunteer committees and key donors to ensure events remain sustainable and successful.
  • Recruit, inspire, motivate and maintain a pool of committed volunteers to help run events; ensuring they are well supported and clear in their roles
  • Collaborate with the fundraising, services and communications staff and volunteers to maximise awareness, attendance, income and fundraising opportunities at our events.
  • Develop and implement an events strategy in line with Back Ups business plan and fundraising strategy to ensure the rejuvenation of long-standing events, underpin growth of net income, sustainable ROI and improve stewardship of attendees
  • Develop a range of cultivation/stewardship events to key audiences and help the team engage with and build relationships with major donors, senior corporate contacts and other high value supporters.
  • Develop and implement annual communications plans and a timely invitation process to promote events to supporters, VIPs and other stakeholders, in line with our brand and values.
  • Plan and organise logistics to ensure the professional execution of all events.
  • Manage and monitor the Major Events and Major Donor income and expenditure budgets in line with Back Ups business plan and fundraising strategy.
Profile
  • Experience in organising and managing major events and/or mass participation events
  • Strong collaborative skills to work cross-team, to creatively develop new offerings and approaches to engage key donors.
  • Excellent organisational, time and project management skills
    • Setting income targets and meeting or exceeding them from events
    • Using key performance indicators to monitor and measure success
    • Developing and executing a communications plan to increase attendance and grow income
  • Demonstrable experience and confidence in building relationships, working with event committees and stewarding key donors
  • Demonstrating a creative flair with regards to the look and feel of events and how they are publicised
Desirable
  • Experience of working with celebrities
  • Spinal cord injury
  • Updating website pages/online media
  • Knowledge of programmes including MailChimp, InDesign and/or other graphic design packages.
  • Experience of working in health or disability
