Job Description

However; did you know that we also provide a range of Environment, Health andSafety Services (EHS) for our clients. Our Finance Branch has created a new role for an EHS Safety Specialist based onsite with one of our clients.Monday - Friday 40 Hours How you will make an impact as an EHS Safety Specialist:

  • In-depth knowledge of EH&S regulations and federal, state, and local regulatory requirements including OSHA, DOT, EPA.
  • Assist in organizing, monitoring, and reporting on various programs such as Pandemic Response and Management, Emergency Response Program, Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP), Global Regulatory Compliance.
  • Effective response and management of COVID-19 protocols and Return to Workplace efforts
  • Active member of the on-site Emergency Response Team (ERT) and supports tracking of ERT membership/meetings and supplies for all locations
  • Identifies, assesses, and monitors workplace hazards (including but not limited to, chemical, physical, biological) that could be present in the work area;
  • Recommends improvements to minimize hazard potential and working with area personnel to find reasonable methods to implement improvements.
  • Conducts regular audits/Job Hazard Analysis for identification of facility/Jobsite hazards and risks to prevent injuries, spills or other H&S impacts and to ensure compliance with customer-specific safety and environmental standards and government regulations.
  • Assists with accident and incident investigation to identify the root cause and prevent future reoccurrence. Evaluates the effectiveness of corrections to remedy incidents.
  • Manage and assists with coordination, development and delivery of EH&S related training and education programs for employees either virtually or in person.
  • Train and assist Account Managers, ERT members, Safety Committee etc. to complete audits, behaviour-based safety reviews, team meetings etc.
  • Arrange and plan drills and training for the improvement of the ERT/Safety Committee. Contribute to and serve as an active lead participant on the companys ERT.
  • Support safety efforts for remote workforce and ergonomics program
  • Coordinate with HR regarding the management of workers compensation cases.
  • Review EH&S reports and documentation to ensure accuracy and completion.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of written environmental, health & safety programs, tools, and materials
  • Maintain positive relationships with EH&S regulatory agencies, manage permits, regulatory inspections, and incident reporting
  • Partner with various site departments, including Facilities, Human Resources
  • Support Corporate EH&S initiatives, including EH&S metrics reporting and audits
  • EH&S documentation and recordkeeping
  • Recommends approaches to create safer processes and continuous improvement.
  • Stay abreast of new government regulations as they are promulgated, as well as new developments in industry (best practices).
  • Tracks regulatory changes relating to all EHS-related matters and makes recommendations as applicable.
Essential SkillsWhat you will bring to the role of an EHS Safety Specialist:
  • Bachelors degree in related scientific or engineering field and professional experience working in a comprehensive environment, health and safety program and/or equivalent experience/training.
  • Experience with Emergency Response and IIPP is highly desirable
  • Ability to receive direct or indirect instruction in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule form, and act upon such instruction to accomplish a given task or project. In the event of unclear instruction, must have the ability to ask for clarificationwithout prompting.
  • Competent writer; exhibits knowledge of spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, detail-oriented workplace where judgment and professionalism were necessities.
  • Capably work under pressure while maintaining a professional image and approach with both internal and external customers.
  • Thorough understanding of standard office procedures and practices.
  • Ability to create and revise documentation with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Ability to thrive in a detail-oriented environment with quickly changing requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly learn unfamiliar areas of business.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to interact effectively at all levels and across diverse cultures.
