Post title: English ASC TeacherSetting: High Peak SchoolLine manager: Head of EducationSalary: £30,000-£34,000Contract: Full-timeJob start date: October 2021High Peak School is seeking to appoint an English ASC Teacher.High Peak School is set on the borderof Cheshire East and the Peak District and provides specialist primary and secondary education for children with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, individuals on the autism spectrum and young people with ADHD, dyspraxia and dyslexia. Our specialistmulti-disciplinary team of leaders, carers, therapists and educationalists work seamlessly together. They teach and proactively support children who have been subjected to adverse childhood experiences, including trauma, toxic stress and associated mentalwellbeing difficulties, aiming to break the cycle of adversity. The environment and teaching approaches are bespoke and tailored to ensure our children and young people thrive and can develop their self-esteem. High Peaks vision though the nurturing and therapeutic approach will enable all children to leave as successful, valued and independent people.Duties and Responsibilities include: Planning andpreparing courses and lessons taking reasonable responsibility for subject development and over sight. Teaching, according to their educational needs, the pupils assigned, including the setting and marking of work to be carried out by the pupils in Schooland elsewhere. Assessing, recording and reporting on the development, progress and attainment of pupils. Promoting the general progress and well-being of individual pupils and of any class or group of pupils assigned to him / her. Providing guidance and adviceto pupils on educational and social matters and on their further education and future careers, including information about sources of more expert advice on specific questions; making relevant records and reports. Making records of, and reports on, the personaland social needs of pupils. Communicating and consulting with the parents of pupils. Communicating and co-operating with persons or bodies outside the School. Participating in meetings arranged for any of the purposes described above. Contributing to the selectionfor appointment and professional development of other teachers and non-teaching staff, including the Induction and assessment of new teachers and teachers serving Induction periods. Assisting the Head Teacher or an Assessor in carrying out threshold assessmentsof other teachers for whom he / she has management responsibility. Co-ordinating or managing the work of other teachers. Taking such part as may be required of him / her in the review, development and management of activities relating to the curriculum, organisationand pastoral functions of the School. Participating in the safeguarding of all the children and ensuring that High Peak School Child Protection Policy is adhered to.Essential Criteria includes: Teaching Degree or equivalent Qualified teacher status (or workingtowards) Must have Maths and English GCSE at grades 9 to 4 (A*-C), or equivalent. Will have teaching experience including working with children with challenging behaviour, whether in a mainstream or special needs setting Minimum of 2 years teaching experiencedelivering the English National Curriculum. Must be able to teach English at KS3 and KS4.
