Emerging Markets Economist (EMEA) - 12 month Fixed Term Contract Grade 10 (for internal purposes) Role : This junior level position is part of the S&P Global Ratings Economics team and will report to the Lead Economist for Emerging Markets, Tatiana Lysenko. Within the emerging market space, the focus will be on EMEA economies. The role provides an excellent opportunity to gain knowledge and experience in applied macroeconomic and credit analysis, enhance technical skills, and become familiar with the ratings process. The position is envisaged as one-year fixed term, to be based in London or Paris. Responsibilities include: • Monitor and analyze economic and financial developments in EMEA countries; • Contribute to quarterly credit conditions/macroeconomic forecasting exercise; • Create analytical insights and reports for both macro and macro-credit projects; • Work closely with counterparts in sovereign, corporate and bank ratings groups. Requirements • Advanced degree in economics, finance or related fields (minimum Masters degree, PhD preferred); • Strong interest in applied economics, financial markets, and macro-credit analysis; • 2-4 years experience in Economist role • Solid analytical, modelling and quantitative skills; • Thorough knowledge of statistical analysis software (e.g., Stata or E-Views) and data providers (Datastream or Bloomberg); • Strong programming skills (R or Python); • Knowledge of some parts of the EMEA region.
