Job Description

Water is essential to daily life, and that means our business is always openWhat you will be doingWe are seeking a Mechanical & Electrical technician to ensure that all equipment at our sewage treatment works is running safely and efficiently using proactive and reactive maintenance methods.Day to day duties will include:

  • Investigating plant failures and carrying out repairs as quickly and efficiently as possible in order to avoid interruptions to the process. This may involve investigating and diagnosing complex faults and carrying out repairs during incidents
  • Carrying out scheduled planned maintenance work on electrical equipment in compliance with company procedures to minimize plant breakdowns
  • Providing technical advice to the wider team, making reference to up-to-date technical knowledge, and providing training or support for technical trainees if required
  • Using technical equipment such as various pumps and associated control gear, 3 phase motors, starters and controls, electronic control systems such as VSDs, automatic valves and penstocks, flow, level and pressure measurement, programmable logic controllers,variable speed drives and controls, chemical handling and dosing equipment
Were looking for you to:
  • Have significant experience in electrical and systems. A time served apprenticeship in an engineering sector, NVQ level 3 or greater in electrical engineering
  • Ideally, you will have qualifications in BS7671 18th Edition electrical wiring regulations. Experience in maintaining, testing, installing, and fault diagnosis on electrical plant equipment in a safe and efficient manner
  • Experience with 3-phased systems
  • Knowledge and awareness of health and safety policies and processes are essential
  • The work will require physical fitness as you will work in confined spaces with successful completion of the appropriate training
  • A valid driving licence is essential
