About Us:The essential work that underpins democracyIn Kensington and Chelsea, we look after a diverse population, which includes people living in some of the nations most deprived wards. Half our 160,000 residents were born outside the UK and there areover 90 languages spoken across the borough. This makes maintaining the Electoral Register and organising elections and referenda particularly challenging.The Role:Were now looking for an experienced Electoral Services Officer to support our Electoral ServicesManager with all aspects of electoral registration and election work, including the Register of Electors and the annual audit. You will assist with the supervision of some 50 temporary staff during our annual canvass and contribute to outreach activities toincrease public awareness of electoral registration, particularly in under-represented groups.Youll be encouraged to extend your experience and skills. We offer the opportunity to undertake training in all aspects of electoral administration, including theAssociation of Electoral Administration (AEA) Foundation course and the AEA certificate.About You:Youll bring experience of administering elections and electoral registration, including a good understanding of electoral processes, legislation and guidance.As youll be working with large volumes of data, accuracy and attention to detail is critical (and will be tested at interview). Excellent ICT skills, including the ability to quickly adapt to new systems and technology, are essential. Workloads vary throughoutthe year and can be challenging at peak times. You must be ready to meet tight deadlines (sometimes including unsociable hours). An excellent communicator, youll have good customer service skills.
