Job Description

Efficiently supporting in the Editorial processesAs a passionate and self-motivated worker within a busy publishing and detail-oriented environment, you will have an important role to play in the support of all publishing operations tasks, working alongside publishing staff. You will be involved in key publishing operations projects such as the CMS initiatives. This role is for those who work to deliver excellent service, with a dedication and passion for supporting in editorial services.What you’ll be doing

  • Provide support to Project Editors through editorial work
  • Managing some ranges and manuscripts from origination through to final deliverables.
  • Occasionally conducting editorial checks and proofreading when required.
  • Supporting Lead PEs in managing template requests and requirements.
  • Managing deliverables to support international office, licence and VLE requirements.
  • Providing support in managing the CMS project initiative.
  • Editing multiple projects to schedule and to the quality expected
  • Liaising with internal and freelance authors, subject matter experts, proof-readers and examiners to keep products on schedule during the origination and publishing services phase
  • Co-ordinating the typesetting process in an effective and timely manner
  • Ensuring products have undergone quality and proof checks and are fit to be handed to the Project Editors to proceed to next phase

  • Ability to recognise clear, concise, well-written and grammatically correct material
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proactive and self-motivated
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and good time management
  • Ability to self-manage when working in a demanding environment during peak publishing cycles
  • Good MS Word skills as well as Knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint and InDesign (desirable but not essential)
  • Concentration, accuracy and an eye for detail
  • Creativity along with the ability to approach work methodically
  • Ideally, you will have some experience with content management systems; however, relevant training will be provided.
