Job Description

Editor-in-Chief - Organic Chemistry PublicationLocation: Central LondonSalary: £70,000 p.a. to £80,000 p.a.Benefits include: 25 days holiday with option for 30 days, Pension, Season Ticket Loan, Free Gym, Dental Plan, Share Option, Private Medical, Eye care Vouchers, Childcare Vouchers, Life Assurance, Private Medical Insurance, Long Service Award, Good Maternityleave & Shared Parental leave scheme, Employee Discounts with Dell/Apple/Vodafone and many others and Occupational Health insurance.Our client is an established global publishers and they areseeking an individual with publishing/editorial expertise to launch and establishan organic chemistry publication.This is a unique opportunity to build upon considerable history and prestige of thetitles and prizes around this publication, and develop and shape an important new open access journal.As Editor-in Chief you will lead an international team of in-house scientific editors as well as fostering partnerships with other key editorial teams as part of our collaboration with the Organic Chemistryteam. You will determine the journals scope andbe responsible for ensuring the quality of research published. You will be expected to attend scientific meetings and establish a broad network comprised of the leading figures in the organic chemistry community.Responsibilities include:

  • Executing an overall strategy for the publication
  • Management of three in-house scientific editors
  • Assessing submitted research papers
  • Overseeing the peer review process
  • Making decisions on manuscripts in collaboration with the editorial team
  • Appointing and developing a strong working relationship with the external advisory editorial board
  • Developing deep networks within the communities served by the journal
  • Recruiting exciting papers
  • Managing the article pipeline and front matter for the journal
  • Managing the social media presence for the journal
  • Collaborating on production workflows, marketing, social media and website
  • Providing excellent author service and driving article transfer within the journal ecosystem.
Requriements- Masters or PhD in any area of organic chemistry with journal relevant subject matter expertise/experience- 3+ years of editorial experience- A broad interest across the full spectrum of chemistry- Project management skills- People management skills- strong organizational skills- Strong written and oral communication skills- Interest in engaging with the scientific community
