Job Description

hmv is a leading specialist retailer of music, film, games, technology and pop culture products, with over 104 stores around the UK and growing E-commerce website, offering a wide selection of new release and catalogue titles on the High Street and dynamic world of E-commerce. The hmv brand, made famous by the iconic image of the dog and trumpet’ trademark featuring Nipper, is practically synonymous with the very history and development of British popular music and culture. Hmv’s rich heritage as a retail specialist stretches back almost 100 years to 20th July 1921 when its first store in London’s Oxford Street was officially opened by the celebrated British composer and conductor, Sir Edward Elgar.A unique opportunity has arisen to join our E-Commerce Department as Product Manager at head office which is based in London. The role will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the E-Commerce store and will focus on the Visual product area. This position will be home based initially but travel to head office would be required on a regular basis once current Covid restrictions are lifted.Key aspects of the role will include:

  • Plan, Deliver and Drive the commercial offer for your category on the E-commerce platform
  • Product management within the CMS including
  • Publishing, Editing and Enhancing the product and ensuring content is optimised for the digital landscape
  • Maintaining the integrity of Product data throughout its lifecycle
  • Managing all landing pages and product to ensure a seamless onsite customer journey
  • Merchandising your product category across the site for all relevant landing pages
  • Product search and keyword management
  • Data analysis and insight delivery to further commercial opportunities, improve customer experience, increase conversion and drive sales growth and ATV
  • Collaborating with IT, testing and managing the CMS, including implementing functionality upgrades to deliver the roll out of platform enhancements
  • Work closely with the Commercial Dept to drive offers, seek new opportunities and maintain the core offer
  • Work closely with the Marketing Dept to ensure all key product, offers and opportunities are optimised both for Email and the digital marketing landscape
  • Work closely with the Customer Services on any issues to ensure a speedy resolution
  • Growing key stakeholder relationships with labels, suppliers and third party support suppliers
  • the ideal candidate will possess the following skills:

  • An innovator, knowledgeable of product and aware of industry trends, always looking to seek out new and exciting commercial opportunities
  • Strong Commercial acumen, able to identify and drive commercial opportunities, including cross category, with the ongoing shift to streaming services its more important than ever to be able to quickly identify and capitalise on trends and shifts in the market to continually drive the category and product offer
  • Must be a team player, able to contribute and support as a member of the team as well as being proactive, highly motivated and able to work on own initiative
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Must possess strong analytical and insight skills - able to analyse and make informed decisions based on key e-commerce metrics
  • Must be an excellent communicator, both verbal and written and have the ability to forge and maintain strong, positive and successful working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills
  • Flexibility and a willingness to work outside of core hours within a fast paced working environment
  • Good working knowledge of Excel
  • Relevant content management or ecommerce experience useful but not required
  • Experience with GA, GMC and GSC desired but not essential
  • Experience with SEO desired but not essential
