Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for an E Grade Staff Nurse (Band 5 or Band 6) to join our Endoscopy Unit based at The London Clinic’s main hospital site in Central London. Our Endoscopy Unit consists of 5 endoscopy treatment rooms running a mixture of upper GI, colorectal and bronchoscopy lists and 16 trolleys individually located in single cubicles (recovery bays). The core Services include; Colonoscopy, Gastroscopy, ERCP, EUS, EBUS, RFA, EMR, APC, Spyglass Direct Visualization System, Laser, Metal Stenting, Capsule endoscopy, Bravo pH Monitoring & Balloon Enteroscopy.Job DescriptionAs a Staff Nurse, you will assess, plan, deliver and evaluate high standards of nursing care, as well as assisting the Manager and colleagues in ensuring the department is efficiently and effectively managed at all times.

  • Job Type: This is a full-time, permanent position, working 37.5 hours per week.
  • Shifts:The Endoscopy service runs from 8am – 8pm; Monday to Friday. Shift pattern; 8am – 4:30pm / 9am – 5:30pm / 10am – 6:30pm / 12:30pm – 8pm (flexibility is required).
  • Job Location:This role is located at our main hospital site in London, W1G 6BW (Close to Regents Park & Baker Street tube stations).
  • Salary:£33,877 - £37,950 (inclusive of London Weighting), and dependent upon skills and experience.

  • Duties & Responsibilities
  • Responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating programmes of care for patients.
  • Technically competent and clinically effective in assisting with all endoscopic diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
  • Familiar with using Safer Endoscopy Checklist, Pre-procedure Assessment, and Recovery discharge criteria.
  • Promote research-based practice, quality assurance and clinical audit where appropriate.
  • Act as mentor to students, teaching and assessing as appropriate.
  • Contribute to the setting and monitoring of measurable standards of care and uphold quality initiatives that improve ‘customer care’ and enhance the interface between staff, patients and visitors.
  • Skills & Experience
  • Registered Nurse with valid NMC pin.
  • Experience in endoscopy, able to assist with therapeutic endoscopic procedures i.e. Laser, ERCP, Bravo, Halo.
  • Knowledge of diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures, as well as being proficient at intravenous cannulation.
  • Highly motivated individual who demonstrated high standards of clinical practice and possesses strong communication and organisational skills.
  • To be able to prioritise own workload effectively, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team, whilst demonstrating a flexible and positive approach to work.
