Could you be the Leys Schools DT Technician We are looking for a passionate individual with first class communication skills to support the delivery of practical lessons in Design, Technology and Engineering.DT TechnicianCambridge CB2 7ADTerm Time Only(34 weeks per annum)£21,500- 24,000 per annum dependent upon experienceThe Leys is the leading co-educational boarding and day school in Cambridge.We are looking for an enthusiastic and professional DT Technician to join our friendly, supportive communityof staff and pupils.You will be someone who is passionate about the subject, possesses effective communication skills and can support the delivery of practical lessons in Design, Technology and Engineering.This is a term time only (34 weeks per annum), permanentrole.Working hours are based on 45 hours a week (exact dates/times to be agreed).Your responsibilities will include: Learning support during practical classes. Assisting pupils to set up and make safe and proper use of machinery. Creating and maintaining accuraterisk assessment documentation for all processes and machinery, and records regarding hazardous materials (C.O.S.H.H. data). To schedule, undertake and record routine maintenance of all workshop equipment. To maintain the departments PPE by cleaning, inspectingand replacing where necessary To engage with ongoing personal development. To assist the Head of Department with expenditure control. Supporting after school clubs by preparing resources and supporting student work on a one-to-one basis.Skills and experiencerequired: Ability to undertake some physical work/heavy lifting. Flexible attitude to work hours Good time management and organisational skills. Good communication skills, able to relate to and interact with teenagers. Self-motivated and the ability to workindependently. Ability to remain calm, positive and enthusiastic when under pressure. Competence with literary and numeracy as appropriate to the work. Skilled experience of working with some or all: woods, metals, plastics, composites. Workshop-based appreciationof underpinning health and safety requirements. A willingness to undertake ongoing training and certification. Relevant qualifications to GCSE or equivalent standard. Basic computer skills such as sending/receiving emails (training available as required).Benefits:33 days paid holiday per annum. contributory pension scheme (subject to eligibility).
