  • Establish robust procedures for data preservation requirements for all Legal matters.
  • Responsible for developing a data preservation framework that aligns to current legal and industry standards.
  • Responsible for the adherence and development of controls, ensuring the defensibility of all phases of the eDiscovery lifecycle.
  • Responsible for ensuring that LCS own records are retained and destroyed in accordance with the groups applicable group and country retention schedules.
  • Coordinating, establishing and maintaining a records inventory for LCS
  • Ensuring that all preservation activities are completed and appropriately documented.
  • Lead the Banks most complex preservation matters and provide oversight to matters being managed by eDiscovery Preservation Associates.
  • Advise and be a subject matter expert on preservation requirements and clearly communicate these requirements to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Support key technology stakeholders in the mapping of the Banks data universe.
  • Represent LCS at relevant technology forums, ensuring that the need for preservation and data retrieval are suitably represented in all stages of technology change initiatives.
  • Ensure the implementation of a Legal Hold technology solution, is fit for purpose and meets eDiscovery requirements.
  • Maintaining and developing relationships with all key functional stakeholders, ensuring that the LCS functions requirements are aligned with Bank policy and standards.
  • Providing timely expert advice to Legal heads on all aspects of relevant legal discovery and disclosure frameworks.
  • Support the development and growth of the function by acting as a trusted advisor and experienced mentor to other colleagues.
  • Supporting the Head of eDiscovery & Data Advisory in collation of MI, ensuring relevant management information and key performance indicators are provided to all key internal stakeholders.
  • Interfacing and directly representing the Bank with external counsel, law enforcement and regulatory bodies as required
  • Working alongside external vendors, establish appropriate controls for the management of data under the control of third-party providers (e.g. Iron Mountain).

  • Promote a culture and practice of compliance with legal standards (including conducting business within legal and regulatory requirements and with high ethical standards) within the Group.
  • Comply with the Group Code of Conduct and make decisions in accordance with the Banks Valued Behaviours.
  • Risk Management
  • Have awareness and understanding of legal and regulatory risks relevant to the role and to identify and inform relevant stakeholders of those risks through appropriate channels.
  • Support LCS COO in ensuring that Records management risks are actively being monitored, managed and mitigated.
  • Engage in the process for the implementation of matter observations.
  • Support the Head of eDiscovery & Data Advisory in ensuring the function remains aligned to the relevant Risk Management Framework.

  • Educated to degree level (or equivalent), ideally in a technology, legal or numerate subject
  • Our Ideal Candidate
  • Strong experience in an eDiscovery or Legal role with industry recognised qualifications or accreditations.
  • Significant experience in independently managing complex Legal or Regulatory preservation exercises.
  • A demonstrated ability to influence and drive change.
  • An excellent understanding of the legal disclosure framework including the relevant legal standards relating to preservations.
  • A good working knowledge of global data privacy frameworks and a demonstrated ability to implement complaint data governance practices.
  • Experience of working with structured data systems (databases) would be advantageous
  • Knowledge of the Electronic Data Reference Model including a good understanding of eDiscovery concepts and the adoption and utilisation of technology would be advantageous.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to multitask within tight deadlines, and excellent analytical skills
  • Demonstrated ability to translate technical concepts to a wider audience
  • Demonstrated Legal Project Management experience and an ability to track and manage costs.
  • Educated to degree level (or equivalent), ideally in a technology, legal or numerate subject
