Job Description

Merrifield Consultants are thrilled to partner Richard House Childrens Hospice to find a Director of Fundraising to take overall responsibility for developing and implementing the fundraising income generation strategy. This person will work closely withthe Chief Executive, the Deputy Chief Executive and the Senior Leadership Team to deliver sustainable (and growing) income to support Richard House Hospices key services, agreed objectives and the organisations Strategic Plan.Job Title: Director of FundraisingOrganisation: Richard House Childrens HospiceSalary: £70,000 - £75,000Contract: Permanent, Full timeLocation: London, (3 days a week in the hospice)Benefits: Hybrid working, flexible hours, generous annual leave and more.Closing date: Wednesday 6th September 2023Required: CV and Cover LetterRichard House Childrens Hospice helps children and their families in East London to lead as happy a life as possible when dealing with a life-limiting health condition. From the moment a child is diagnosed with a life-limiting, life-threatening or complexhealth condition - everything changes.Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a fundraising strategy that underpins the organisations strategic goals and accelerates income growth in a sustainable manner across a diverse range of income streams and embeds a culture of fundraising across the organisation.
  • Prepare, implement and monitor a rolling 3 year fundraising plan to deliver the fundraising strategy working closely with other members of the Senior Leadership team.
  • Establish a portfolio of large, long term, broad based corporate partnerships that provide sustainable income.
  • Establish structure, processes, competencies and systems within fundraising to ensure the Fundraising Department is fully equipped to accelerate growth, and establish a diversified and sustainable income base.
  • Provide secure, visible and supportive leadership to the Fundraising team.
  • Be accountable for the recruitment, retention and development of Fundraising staff.
  • Lead on long-term workforce planning for the Fundraising team in order to develop and expand our services.
Experience and Skills:
  • Proven successful experience of developing and implementing a fundraising strategy that has accelerated income growth and established a more diversified and sustainable income base (or transferable experience from the commercial sector).
  • Proven experience of successfully leading the development and implementation of a KPI framework and the development of reporting systems in line with the long-term goals of an organisation.
  • Successfully led change and growing income across an income generating department.
  • Proven ability to inspire teams by establishing a common commitment to the mission of an organisation.
  • A proven leader of innovation across different income sources, including individual giving and community fundraising.
  • Able to lead, inspire, manage and motivate a diverse team of staff and volunteers across a number of disciplines and roles and different locations towards common goals.
