Job Description

Ofcom exists to make communications work for everyone. We regulate the TV, radio and video-on-demand sectors, fixed and mobile telecoms, postal services, plus the airwaves over which wireless devices operate. We are also helping to inform the ongoing debateabout the future of online regulation.Purpose of the RoleWorking to deliver our communication priorities across our website, publications, and other channels we are looking for a digital producer. This role is a key member of the Communications team and sits within the Digital and Creative team. You will prepareand publish content for our websites using a Content Management System (CMS). You will have an excellent eye for detail and be able to spot an opportunity to add value to content to make each visit to our website an engaging and inclusive experience.Requirements of the Role

  • Engage with internal stakeholders to ensure the timely delivery of web content and publications
  • Prepare content for publication, ensuring content is high quality adheres to brand guidelines and is accurate and timely
  • Publish material using our CMS during usual business hours and out of hours as required
  • Reformat Word documents to conform to templates where necessary and coach authors in the use of templates
  • Provide support and advice to CMS users and content providers across Ofcom
  • Check content to make sure it complies with best-practice web accessibility guidelines
  • Support our content health programme of work to review older content and keep the website fresh, relevant and searchable
  • Support digital developments by contributing to online development projects
  • Support the creative team in developing other digital assets such as infographics and video
  • Keep up to date with best practice in digital communication
  • Attend meetings, continually representing and contributing to a high-performing digital team and inputting new ideas.
Main responsibilities include:
  • Engage with stakeholders and coordinate content for publication on Ofcom websites and other digital platforms
  • Prepare content for publication and publish content using a CMS
  • Format word documents so they comply with accessibility standards
  • Provide support to deliver digital assets such as graphics and video
Skills, knowledge and experience
  • Experience of using an enterprise level web publishing system (CMS) to publish content
  • Experience of delivering significant project volumes to very tight deadlines and high standards
  • Basic experience of developing and editing graphics using Adobe Creative Suite
  • Experience of using Google Analytics
  • Experience of implementing SEO techniques
  • Experience of using cloud-based campaign mail software such as Campaign Monitor, MailChimp, Dotmailer or similar
  • Understanding of best-practice web accessibility standards
  • Knowledge of HTML and browser and user interfaces
