Job Description

The Hong Kong Polytechnic University is a government-funded tertiary institution in Hong Kong. It offers programmes at various levels including Doctorate, Masters and Bachelors degrees. It has a full-time academic staff strength of around 1,200. Thetotal annual consolidated expenditure budget of the University is in excess of HK$7.6 billion. DEPARTMENT OF AERONAUTICAL AND AVIATION ENGINEERING Training Instructor (Ref. 21060410-E2) In line with the strategic development of the University and to lead thedevelopment of the aeronautical and aviation engineering discipline in teaching and research activities, the Department of Aeronautical and Aviation Engineering was established in the Faculty of Engineering. The Department currently offers undergraduate andpostgraduate programmes and actively engages in various research and consultancy work. Applications are now invited from academics/industrial practitioners who are activelyinvolved in aviation engineering to fill the vacancy. The successful candidate will be part of a Hong Kong Civil Aviation Department approved Flight Training Organisation delivering the Airline Transport Pilots Licence technical knowledge subjects . The coursefollows the EASA ATPL syllabus. The appointee will be required to:(a) undertake instructional duties as directed by the Chief Training Instructor; (b) remain current within their specialties with regard to changes in technology and the approved syllabus; (c)undertake annual refresher training and professional development as directed by the Chief Training Instructor; (d) contribute to programme/course planning, administration and development; (e) prepare progress tests and monitor student progress; (f) assistin the coordination of student activities and practical training; and(g) perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of the Department or his delegates. Applicants should have:(a) a recognised degree; (b) at least five years of aviation experience eitherin an engineering or flight crew role;(c) a proven record in instructing professional pilot training courses within an approved Flight Training Organisation; (d) attendance record of a recognised course in instructional techniques; (e) effective classroomteaching skills; (f) a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and professional service; and (g) qualification which are accepted by the Hong Kong Civil Aviation Department Flight Standards Division. Preference will be given to the holders of an AirlineTransport Pilots Licence (ATPL) or Aircraft Maintenance Engineers Licence issued by a recognised regulatory authority. Initial appointment will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract. Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement.
