Job Description

Role: Database EngineerLocation: London, remote initiallyInitial 6m ContractDaily Rate: Competitive - PAYERole and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for front to end delivery of migrating the DB2 database used by the application to MSSQL.
  • Collaborate with application dev team to identify the requirements, scope and prepare the requirement specification doc
  • Analyse all the existing database objects like tables, views, procedures, triggers etc. used by the application, and create scripts to build database objects in MSSQL DB.
  • Ensure database optimization, integrity, consistency and security
  • Work closely with database teams to create a plan for the existing data migration, and create scripts/use tools for a smooth data migration.
  • Responsible for end to end application testing, release planning, closely work with application support team and DBA teams for the prod migration.
    • Key Skills and Experience:
  • Hands on knowledge on MSSQL, and knowledge on DB2 is a plus.
  • In-depth knowledge on PL/SQL programming with the experience in constructing Procedures, Functions, Triggers, Collections, Packages, Exception handling etc.
  • Good to have skills on JAVA, Hibernate, Spring Framework
  • Background on Linux commands and any scripting technology.
  • Good problem solving, logical and analytical skills.
  • Proven record in handling problems and troubleshooting database issues.
  • Highly proactive and takes initiative to identify problem areas and evolve solutions.
  • Must be a team player.
    • Additional Requirements:
  • Eligible to work in the UK without the need of visa support/sponsorship
  • Excellent communication skills - written and verbal
