Database Applications Engineer (Hybrid Working 60/40 or 40/60)Major Arts & Entertainment business based in London is looking for a Database Applications Engineer to join them. The Monday to Friday set workinghours are sensible too, no burning midnight oil, and the client is a big believer in Training so learning is on offer here from stable long service colleagues.Most People go here, love it, and dont leave!Main Purpose of the JobTo provide development and maintenance of 3rd party applications and supporting technologies including application database. To provide third-line support and provide knowledge management and knowledge transfer. Follow best practices for formal change control,configuration management, formal problem management, knowledge management, and release management. Manage upgrades and updates to applications and own learning and contribute to a culture of continuous improvementMain ResponsibilitiesApplication and Database development/administration

• Maintain and develop technical solutions (reporting and integration) supporting 3rd party applications
• Deal with technical incidents and service requests to ensure service levels are maintained
• Use monitoring software and tools to troubleshoot and resolve application and database issues
• Liaise with Service Desk Team and Infrastructure team on dealing with issues
• Follow Problem Management processes to troubleshoot and resolve recurring issues
• Maintain the application knowledge database ensuring changes are updated and communicated
• Share knowledge of known issues, resolutions, maintenance schedules, and common database tasks with the Desktop Support team, ensuring the Systems Analysts are fully supported
• Implement processes and controls (technical and non-technical) to improve the performance and reliability of the applications
• Work with the Applications team on developing the data warehousing solution (including ETL, data storage, and reporting)
• Work closely with key departments to develop technical solutions & with the application team to monitor and maintain databases

PERSON SPECIFICATIONKnowledge / Skills and Experience

• Experience in developing and supporting Enterprise applications & IT service delivery (third line support)
• Experience with Atlassian product suite including JIRA, Confluence, and Bitbucket
• Familiarity with working with APIs (REST/SOAP)
• Experience with the following database technologies: Microsoft SQL Server (2016 onwards), including AlwaysOn Availability Groups, Open-source database systems (MySQL, PostgreSQL) Data Warehousing technologies (AWS Redshift) , NoSQL database systems (DynamoDB)
• Some Knowledge of Managed Cloud database solutions (AWS RDS / Azure SQL DB) & Knowledge of Cloud services (AWS / Azure)
• Some experience of the following Windows technologies or ability to learn: Internet Information Services, Windows Failover Clustering, PowerShell scripting

Qualifications (Desired)

• Microsoft SQL certification (MCSA) or equivalent competency
• ITIL Foundation or equivalent competency
