Springer Nature is seeking a Data Visualisation and Interaction Lead for its highly-regarded Data and Analytics Solutions group. The group develops new data products that aim to transform science as well as meeting the needs of Springer Natures Researchdivision which includes Nature, Springer, BioMedCentral and Scientific American. This is an exciting opportunity to bring leading data visualization and interfaces to the scientific community, for examples of the opportunity see these Nature 150th, NatureGenome and Nature computational social science features which demonstrates the potential and our Experiments and Nano platforms for examples of our current data products. As a data visualisation specialist, you will be understanding consumer needs and designingdata visualisation solutions that provide meaningful insight in an engaging way. You will be both creative and technical, with an ability to simplify complex concepts and data into a simple visual story that contributes to our purpose to advance discoverywith some of the most interesting datasets available. Youll be motivated to improve scientific discovery and communication to further drive its impact.You will be working in close partnership with data analysts, data scientists and data engineers, as wellas other colleagues from Springer Nature and our technology partners including Google. You will have opportunities to work with the latest data and analytics technologies including graph databases, Google BigQuery, Tensorflow, Looker, D3.js and Plotly Dashas well as previewing new technologies from Google and other partners.Role responsibilities will include: Gathering, analysing and blending data to produce compelling visualisations and solutions that enable customers to gain insights into science Workingwith customers to understand their needs and ideate new ways to meet them via visualisations and interfaces Build strong and proactive relationships with customers, business stakeholders and senior management, providing insights and analytics to support inachieving the strategic goals of the business Increase the adoption of data visualisation approaches making data led insight accessible to all Being an advocate for a data-driven culture, share thought leadership on tools and best practice Introducing compellingdata visualizations and interactive dashboards that allow right decision-making in a timely mannerRole requirements: University degree with a strong analytical/quantitative background or equivalent experience (e.g. Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Econometrics,Physics, Computer Science etc.) Ability to extract, cleanse and combine data and make sense of it using software using SQL/Python/R/Java Script Experience with front end development of data visualisations HTML/CSS/JS including D3.js Excellent communicationskills with the ability to tell compelling stories from the data Strong ability to influence, with highly effective negotiation and presentation skills Experience in identifying patterns and connecting different pieces of information to deliver unobvious insightsdrawing information from diverse and varied sources. Demonstrable experience (a portfolio will be requested) of using data visualisation to add tangible value in achieving the wider goals and strategy of the business Excellent analytical problem solving capabilitiescoupled with business acumen Well organized and accurate with good time management Good networker, able to build up effective relations with internal business partners
