Job Description

The RoleThe Data Protection Representative (DPR) will facilitate GDPR compliance in the Consumer division through managing transparent data protection policies, systems and procedures. Key responsibilities will include managing our compliance with GDPR and data protection laws, monitoring adherence to GDPR standards and acting as a point of contact and escalation within the Consumer business. In addition, the DPR will be responsible for data governance and accuracy within the Consumer business and support the regular Enterprise Risk Committee process.The Data Protection Representative will be working with the business to ensure compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation, so the successful incumbent will have experience in project management and /or Operational risk management. The ultimate responsibility for meeting the requirements of the General Data Protection Regulation rests with each division, however in this role you will help the respective Managing Director/ functional Heads to ensure that those responsibilities are met. This role will be the go-to for GDPR queries therefore strong communication skills and stakeholder management is key.Responsibilities

  • Inform the Bank’s Data Protection Officer ("DPO") of any proposed new or changed uses of Personal Data within their business unit/function and to gain authorisation for that change;
  • Regularly review the content and use(s) of Personal Data within their business unit and confirm to the DPO that the information is compliant.
  • Ensure that employees and third party contractors under the control of their business unit understand the provisions of the Bank’s Data Privacy Policy and Records Retention Policy and that they know the procedures to follow when handling, releasing and disposing of Personal Data;
  • Assist the DPO with the timely collation and preparation of materials in response to a request or complaint received.
  • Create and maintain an effective and audit-able process to demonstrate that employees and third-party contractors working for their area of responsibility are adhering to the Data Privacy Policy and the Records Retention Policy.
  • Ensuring that the division for which they are responsible considers whether a Privacy Impact Assessment’ is required in relation to any BAU change or project affecting their division.
  • Support the production of the monthly Enterprise Risk Committee pack and help manage relevant actions and the production of minutes.
  • Represent the Consumer team in the data governance process; ensuring accuracy of data within core banking systems.
  • The Person
  • Minimum 5 years’ relevant experience within a financial services environment
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience within a change / project management team and/or Operational Risk role
  • Experience delivering projects within agreed deadlines and budget
  • Working knowledge of GDPR
