Job Description

A unique and exciting opportunity to join a prestigious law firm and lead on the firms data privacy policies.Client DetailsA leading International law firm with an excellent reputation within the legal market.DescriptionKey responsibilities include:

  • Reporting directly to the General counsel, advising internally on the firms own data privacy compliance.
  • Handling any data breaches as needed.
  • Ensuring that data protection is added into all relevant activities relating to the processing of personal data.
  • Advising on privacy to manage data use across the board, ensuring compliance with UK and EU data protection legislation.
  • Developing templates for data collection, assisting with data mapping and client confidentiality adherence.
  • Acting as the first point of contact with the SRA, ICO and other DP authorities in relation to all data privacy/GDPR queries and issues (both EU and UK).
  • Working with various key stakeholders on key DP projects to ensure compliance.
  • Advising on onward transfers of client files, for example after partner departures.
  • Developing risk assessments.
  • Building relationships with stakeholders.
ProfileThe successful candidate will have the following:
  • Qualified lawyer (8+ PQE)
  • Strong experience in data privacy
  • Experience in Private Practice (either a fee-earning or in-house role)
  • Confident to have challenging conversations with fee-earners and partners
  • Strong experience dealing with data breaches
  • Experience and knowledge of EU and UK GDPR regulations
  • A CIPP qualification or equivalent would be ideal
  • Understanding of SRA regulatory requirements in relation to client confidentiality and clients exercise of their data protection rights
