Job Description

DATA ENGINEERING MANAGERINSURE-TECH STARTUPCENTRAL LONDON£85,000-95,000A start up in the insure-tech field are looking for a senior hire to lead their Data Engineering team who are building a new cloud based platform to replace their old systems in AWSTHE COMPANYThis company is around 5 years old and offer a flexible disruptive product to consumers in the Insurance space through an online platform/app. They have had significant investment and are continuing to invest in their data and analytics teams.THE ROLEAs a Data Engineering Manager you would be responsible for :

  • Taking ownership of their new cloud based platform which has already started being built as well as working hands on
  • Impose technical standardsfor the team thats coding to adhere to
  • Oversee the connection of external data sources to the DWH and make sure stakeholders are kept informed of developments
  • Make sure the Data Architecture is scaleable and optimised for efficiency as well as working with the analytics and pricing teams to make sure requirements are understood and reflected in how data is platformed/made available for analytics
  • Oversee the design and implementation of the connection of the Data Warehouse to Looker
    • SKILLS AND EXPERIENCEA successful Data Engineering Manager will have:
  • Strong experience building and managing teams in this sort of environment and building a data platform from scratch in a early stage company
  • Commercial experience delivering data warehousing and pipelining solutions in AWS as well as PostgreSQL and MongoDB ideally.
  • Excellent SQL coding ability as well as either proficiency with Python or Golang
  • A number of years experience with line managing and motivating teams as well a delivering data solutions across varying environments
