Job Description

CRU is undergoing an exciting data transformation that will revolutionise how we deliver market information about commodities to our clients. We are currently looking for Data Engineering Apprentices to help spearhead this. This apprenticeship will giveyou a unique opportunity to be at the forefront of our data revolution, allow you to directly help in the development of internal analytical data platforms and assist in customer facing data products.A typical day

  • Developing and maintaining scalable data pipelines to support the creation of exciting new data products within the commodity industry.
  • Learn and apply the latest data analytics and quality tools to ensure our data complies with our high standards.
  • Collect, manage and convert raw data sets into information that can be interpreted by various stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with the team to design and implement efficient data pipelines using popular tools such as Airflow and DBT (Data Build Tool).
  • Gain hands-on experience in building scalable cloud infrastructure using modern technologies like Terraform on the Azure platform.
  • Follow best practices and coding standards to create high-quality data software.
  • Receive mentorship and guidance from experienced professionals to enhance your skills and knowledge in data engineering.
  • Be part of a dynamic team that embraces creativity and problem-solving, shaping the future of data in the commodity industry.
  • Use existing data to identify trends and issues to bring forward ideas and solutions to drive business needs and objectives.
You must have
  • GCSE English & Maths 4-9 (C-A*) or equivalent
Skills needed
  • An understanding of SQL, Python and/or Linux desired but not essential (please have evidence of this on your profile).
  • A genuine passion and interest for Data and Technology.
  • Flexible and adaptable approach to work and problems.
  • Great communication skills (sarcasm is also accepted!)
  • Delivery focused with a passion for quality and innovation.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Excited to learn and develop, both personally and professionally.
  • Curiosity and enthusiasm.
  • Good interpersonal and teamworking skills.
  • Willing to get things wrong and to request help/ escalate issues, when necessary.
