Job Description

Data Engineer / ETL Developer / BI Developer - SQL, Talend, AWS, Redshift, Hadoop, Spark, Datawarehousing, Data Lakes, ETL Pipelines, Data Modelling. £500 - £600 p/day. 6 Months Contract (Rolling) - Inside IR35 / Umbrella or PAYE. Insurance, London / Remote Working. (100% due to pandemic, fully flexible arrangements upon return to operational environment.) ETL Developer / Data Engineer sought by multi-national Fintech company operating within the Insurance sector. You will be responsible for assisting in the productionisation of the Business Intelligence output by building out complex data transformation pipelines and processes. This role requires a solid understanding of datamarts and datawarehouses within the AWS cloud and multiple data sources, SQL / NoSQL databases. You will be responsible for engineering large, complex data sets and creating the data pipelines feeding into business intelligence platforms and products. This work will initially be undertaken with Talend but you will advise on the use of other tools over time. The Data Engineer / ETL Developer will work closely with the BI Platform Product Manager to understand how data is best managed to ensure that reports, dashboards and automated reporting functionality can be delivered by the BI Developers and Data Scientists. The product is used by both internal and external clients and as such you will need to work with them to elicit requirements. Data cleansing, transformation and modelling will be required to manipulate, process and extract data from disparate sources such as .csv, JSON, XML as well as data from multiple structure environments. We are searching for an ETL Developer / Data Engineer / BI Developer who possesses a solid understanding of SQL engineering / ETL engineering working with both SQL (ideally AWS Redshift, PostgreSQL, Oracle etc) and NoSQL databases. You will have worked with a number of ETL tools (such as Talend or other Java based open source tools) and have extensive experience building complex data pipelines in the AWS cloud. Experience with Hadoop for data stores and Apache Spark (or similar tools) for fault tolerant data stream processing would be advantageous. Excellent communication skills are pre-requisite. Experience working in a client facing capacity and/or within a Product focussed environment would be a distinct advantage. Insurance / Life Insurance experience an advantage but non-essential.
