The Role In this period of significant growth Charles Taylor is looking for a Data & Analytics Developer, who will design, build and test Data and Analytics solutions for insurance customers. You will be part of a technical team responsible for building solutions in a largely onshore model. You will design and build innovative solutions to improve our customers use of data using a mix of technologies from different vendors. You will work across the lifecycle of the implementation working closely with the stakeholders, bringing your technical expertise to deliver robust technical solutions using market leading software. You will bring innovative ways of working to the team and will be expected to pick up new tools quickly, applying them to new scenarios whether rapid prototyping or robust data management solutions. Key Responsibilities

  • Development across the spectrum of data management work, including data warehousing (typically using Kimball or Data Vault 2.0 methodologies), data cleansing (automated), data integration and master data management.
  • Contribute to and maintain client satisfaction on all allocated projects
  • Work on all phases of the project from inception and design to delivery into production
  • Work effectively as part of a highly motivated team
  • Work across multiple technologies, identifying the best use of tools for different problems
  • Work to tight deadlines and deliver quality innovative products
  • Work with business users to present data through reporting, dashboard technologies and custom data visualisation to provide insight to facilitate decision making
  • Work with business analysts and project managers to proactively identify potential issues to de-risk the progress of development

  • Deep familiarity with Microsoft Business Intelligence stack (SQL Server, SSIS, SSAS, SSRS)
  • Experience working on complex data warehouses or BI projects
  • Strong technical, business and client relationship skills
  • Proven ability to deal with ambiguous problems, taking the initiative to find out required information
  • Self-starter who can operate independently or as part of a team
  • Strong mix of business and technical acumen
  • Ability to quickly understand new data sets in an effective, structured way
  • Advanced listening skills and written and verbal communications
  • Extensive experience interacting with business stakeholders and business analysts
  • Prior insurance industry knowledge will be advantageous
    • Additional technical skills
  • Strong knowledge of working with RDBMSs (SQL Server/Oracle)
  • Strong experience with SSIS, Data Factory or similar ETL tools
  • Strong experience with Business Intelligence and reporting tools - e.g. SSRS/Power BI, Oracle Analytics Cloud, QlikView/Qlik Sense, Tableau, d3.js - with preference towards Microsoft technologies
  • Passion to build continued knowledge around new technologies and trends
  • Knowledge of C# beneficial
  • Experience with Azure platforms and services beneficial (Azure SQL Database, Databricks)
  • Experience of working with non-relational data stores (NoSQL variants, SSAS) beneficial
  • Any AI/ML experience is a bonus (Machine Learning, Python, R, TensorFlow, Spark)
