We work collaboratively and cross functionally, boasting a healthy ethos whereby we aim to promote the best version of ourselves and you.In this role you will work with fully fledged Cyber Defence team across a traditional working week. There will be instances (in event of a breach / onboarding) where its all hands-on deck and overtime is expected, with occasional travel to client site.Given the nature of this role, this should come as no surprise. Most importantly, expect to work on some of most intriguing and relevant jobs within this sector.Were happy to talk flexible working and consider reduced hours and job shares, well support you to balance your work and life.A look into the role As a Cyber Defence Manager within our Cyber Defence Centre, you will:

  • Work with the Cyber Defence team and wider group to ensure creation of LLD in line with customer requirements
  • Industry awareness of emerging technologies and being able to articulate benefits and fit for purposes to customers
  • Working with the project management team to establish project dependencies and deployment planning
  • Proactively logging and tracking time worked on projects accurately to ensure accurate P&L
  • Maintain and promote, good customer service culture at all time
  • Able to articulate and present highly technical solutions to customers
  • Ensure deployed services are configured and aligned to customer business requirements
  • Defining and executing appropriate test plans based on the technology deployed to ensure customer acceptance of delivered project has meet their requirements
  • Deliver and assist other professional in understanding technical and design requirements
  • Provide support to the wider team as part of the Digital Forensics Group (DFG) and Cyber Defence Centre (CDC).
  • Proactively working with the team to ensure projects are delivered according to specified designs to ensure business requirements are achieved
  • To monitor, maintain and protect networks, systems and assets for malicious activity typically using technologies such as Security Orchestration Automation and Response (SOAR) as well as Security Incident and Event Management (SIEM).
  • Provide daily summary reports of network events and activity relevant to cyber defence practices.
  • Willingness to keep up to date on the latest happenings within the cyber security realm.
  • To maintain high levels of professional conduct, including but not limited to cooperative engagement, the exercising of initiative, improvements to the service, and professional styles of communication when necessary.
  • Work closely with operations and management to ensure effective deployment of resources (globally where necessary) and manage the team to meet delivery targets and required levels of excellence
  • Monitor team performance through feedback, observations, reviews and client and internal feedback and act accordingly.
  • Upskilling the team, maintaining and developing their skills
Knowing youre right for us Joining us as a Cyber Defence Manager, the minimum criteria youll need is strong IT Security background of at least 8-10 years. A passion for cyber security is a must with relevant IT / Security qualifications to set you apart. It would be greatif you had some of the following skills, but dont worry if you dont tick every box, well help you develop along the way.Essential:
  • Minimum of 4 years experience in a Cyber defence or similar technical delivery role
  • Good organisational and decision-making skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communicational skills with accuracy and clarity both verbally and written
  • Passionate, professional, with a can-do attitude at all times
  • Self-motivated, disciplined, enthusiastic and team player
  • Highly motivated with ability to work under own initiative, making decisions to benefit Grant Thornton
  • Aptitude for understanding and solving problems
  • Ability to work in a rapidly expanding and fast changing environment with a proven track record
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills as you will be required to create Low Level Design documentation
  • Microsoft Server and Desktop technologies
  • Linux Server Technologies
  • Experience in LAN deployments using VLAN segmentation along with ACL.
  • Knowledge of Cyber/Information Security Frameworks such as NIST and CIS CCS.
  • Experience and knowledge with IT Security software e.g. NGAV, EDR, SIEM etc.
Nice to have:
  • 2.1 Degree in STEM or Cyber, CompTIA Network + / Security +, other relevant IT certifications
  • Knowledge of cyber security standards such as ISO27001, NIST, CIS Critical Controls
  • VMWare or Hyper-V and server integration
  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or equivalent.
  • Relevant Certifications: eg MCPs in desktop and server technologies, GWAPT, OSCP, CCNA.
  • Good understanding of software development practices and coding.
  • Deep knowledge of OWASP Top 10, CWE/SANS Top 25, WASC
  • Exposure to ISO 27001, 9001
  • Financial application or financial institution expertise
