Job Description

Lidl loves Customs! To help us deliver food to the nation in every part of the UK, we are looking for a confident and motivated Customs Specialist to join our ever-growing Customs team. Our team makes sure the products you see in our 800+ stores across theUK are imported efficiently, efficiently, and of course, compliantly whilst ensuing no opportunity is missed to save customs duty. We do this with rigorous customs auditing and product commodity code classification and are looking for a Customs Specialistto lead and guide our team of in an Administrator role.We have a hybrid working model for Head Office roles, ensuring you have a flexible work life balance.What youll do

  • Collecting detailed information from various sources to enable your classification
  • Classifying products against the customs tariff and explanatory notes, identifying and recording relevant preferential trade agreements
  • Work with colleagues to review the accuracy of all classifications for our products
  • Investigate the trade agreements relating to the products and support the buying teams to determine whether the products meet the qualifying requirements
  • Performing post-clearance amendments to declarations or other errors that have resulted in incorrect declarations
  • Assist in the design and implementation of customs compliant procedures and processes for suppliers and other external stakeholders as well as within Lidl .
  • Verify and audit post-entry customs declarations and trade data for customs compliance.
  • Communicate and provide guidance to internal and external stakeholders about customs best-practices
What youll need
  • Some knowledge of customs classification, procedures and processes
  • Knowledge of applying the General Rules of Interpretation (GRI), experience working with the UK Trade Tariff, Classification Guidance and Explanatory Notes
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to use your own initiative
  • Highly focused and accurate with an uncompromising eye for detail
  • A hands-on approach and can-do attitude
  • Ability to work collaboratively and as part of a team
  • Ability to accommodate last minute requests with ease and efficiency
  • Confident using Microsoft Office packages, especially Excel
  • German language skills are desirable
