Job Description

An exciting opportunity to work for a prestigious and niche client in the City of London has arisen for an experienced Customs Declaration Officer. The position is quite urgent and available immediately. The purpose of the role will be:

  • Completing Import and Export Customs Entries on behalf of customers to make sure Entries are HMRC compliant when goods move in and out of the UK as part of a scheme overseen nationally.
  • Liaison with other teams and functions to ensure that the Customs Declaration Service is fully advertised and that they make best use of opportunities for members.
    • The Key Responsibilities:
  • Delivering a Customs Compliant service that meets HMRC standards
  • Ensuring data from shipping documents, invoices, packing lists etc is transferred correctly to Customs Declaration
  • Checking of all relevant customs and trade documents, calculating where appropriate duties and VAT) and liabilities have been noted and observed
  • Checking tariff classifications
  • Submission of customs declarations using simplified, summary and standard procedures on behalf of client
  • Calculating payment required from client and gaining payment in agreed way
  • Scanning and filing of support documents
  • Complete customs entries in an accurate and timely manner
  • Carrying out data administration and validation
    • There will be extensive client liaison, building relationships and rapport with new and existing customers. recommending potential clients to convert to clients. on board clients and getting to know their supply chains. Will also help clients understand how to provide the information needed to clear their goods through UK ports. The successful candidate must have experience of working in a Freight or Customs office and be familiar with Customs Declarations and/or International Trade procedures. You will have a high level of customer service skills, be friendly and approachable and be driven to deliver.
