Job Description

Job Title: Country Risk AnalystOverview: Our client is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Country Risk Analyst to join their team. As a Country Risk Analyst, you will play a crucial role in evaluating a countrys economic and political stability, with a focus on mitigatingrisks associated with sovereign debt and ratings exposure. Your expertise will be instrumental in providing strategic insights that guide our organizations decision-making processes.Responsibilities:Risk Assessment:

  • Conduct thorough analysis of economic, political, and social factors affecting countries of interest, emphasizing sovereign debt dynamics and credit ratings exposure.
  • Evaluate the impact of global events and trends on country-specific risk profiles, with a particular focus on sovereign debt resilience.
  • Assess the potential risks and opportunities associated with investments, trade, and other business activities, considering sovereign debt implications.
Data Collection and Analysis:
  • Gather and analyse data from diverse sources, including economic indicators, political developments, and market trends, with an emphasis on sovereign debt metrics.
  • Utilize both quantitative and qualitative methods to assess and quantify country risk, integrating sovereign debt and ratings exposure into the analysis.
  • Stay informed about industry best practices and emerging methodologies in country risk analysis, specifically related to sovereign debt markets.
Report Generation:
  • Prepare comprehensive reports that not only detail general country risk assessments but also provide insights into sovereign debt risks and ratings exposure.
  • Communicate risk factors, trends, and potential mitigations to internal stakeholders, highlighting the impact on sovereign debt dynamics.
  • Provide timely and actionable insights to assist decision-makers in understanding and managing country-specific risks, with a focus on sovereign debt considerations.
Monitoring and Early Warning:
  • Establish monitoring mechanisms to track changes in country risk profiles, particularly those related to sovereign debt developments.
  • Develop early warning indicators specific to sovereign debt and ratings exposure to alert the organization to potential shifts in risk.
  • Collaborate with other teams to ensure timely responses to emerging risks, with a strategic focus on sovereign debt resilience.
Cross-functional Collaboration:
  • Work closely with other departments, such as finance, legal, and compliance, to integrate country risk assessments, emphasizing sovereign debt considerations, into overall risk management strategies.
  • Collaborate with business development teams to assess the feasibility and risks associated with entering new markets, incorporating sovereign debt and ratings exposure analysis.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelors or masters degree
  • Proven experience in country risk analysis, with a strong emphasis on sovereign debt and ratings exposure, preferably in a corporate or financial institution setting.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and trends, especially those related to sovereign debt metrics.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Familiarity with geopolitical dynamics, economic indicators, and global affairs, with a focus on sovereign debt markets.
