Job Description

Our Financial Services practice is an important part of our wider business at Mazars. With over 35 FS partners and 300 specialist staff in the UK, our growing team provides tailored services to asset management, banking, insurance and real estate clients.Tax is an integral part of these services. What draws us together is a shared passion for using our FS industry experience and deep service line knowledge to provide bespoke client advice.You will work with a variety of clients across start-up, specialist mid-sized and established multinational clients as well as across the breadth of subsectorsincluding fintechs, banks, capital market participants, securities dealers, general and lifeinsurers, Lloyds insurers, insurance brokers, funds and fund managers. We operate as an integrated team, which provides opportunities to get involved and gain experience in all these areas, in addition to your primary focus across Banking and Asset Management.After recent growth and winning many new clients, we have ambitious targets for the future. It is also reflected in our commitment to flexible and hybrid working,whereby you will be able to split your time between working from home, at the office and with our clients.Come and join a friendly, supportive and growing team to develop your career in an enjoyable environment.Role & ResponsibilitiesThe primary focus of the role will be to manage FS focused members of our Compliance & Advisory team in providing provide tax compliance, tax audit and related tax advisory services. This will be built upon a deep understanding of our clients businessesand the subsectors in which they operate. You will work closely with the Partner, Director and Senior Manager team to develop strong client relationships, lead tax engagements and deliver high quality tax servicesincluding coordination with indirect tax,employment tax and governance specialists.Specifically, you will:

  • Support the management of client relationships and engagements
  • Understand our clients businesses and help identify new opportunities
  • Develop strong Banking and Asset Management sector understanding and technical issues
  • Undertake research, support cross-border and/or cross-functional advice and tax audit support
  • Manage the delivery of client work with high-quality and profitable outcomes
  • Support broader business development activity and build a referral network
  • Coach junior team members, with appraisal management responsibilities if desired
  • Work collaboratively across the Partner, Director and Senior Manager group
  • Contribute positively to the work environment and well-being of the team
Skills, Experience & KnowledgeWe are seeking people who are keen to work in a collaborative team environment and develop their project management experience, technical skills and commercial acumen. The role will suit someone comfortable in building relationships, sharing knowledge anddelivering technical excellence. Specific requirements:
  • Qualified at ACA, CTA or equivalent level (eg, legal/HMRC/international)
  • Keen interest in financial services and related tax issues with some knowledge of either the Banking or Asset Management sector specifically being desirable
  • Good awareness of broader tax, international tax, regulatory and accounting areas
  • Able to research, analyse and interpret complex matters to resolve client issues
  • Able to manage projects, meet deadlines and manage the financial impacts
  • Good at building effective relationships with clients
  • Some experience of identifying opportunities for business development
  • Good people management, team management and communication (oral & written)
  • Adaptable and organised with a commercial approach
