The Content Editor (Stories & Case Studies) will play a vital role in helping RNIB to communicate engaging, captivating stories with relevant, timely and meaningful content. This content is essential for the promotion and marketing of our services, our fundraising efforts and it helps improve more lives of blind and partially sighted people across the UK.You’ll gather, develop and maintain written stories from our customers, volunteers and beneficiaries. Stories are integral in raising awareness of RNIB, its mission, campaigns and impact, by powerfully illustrating blind and partially sighted people’s lives and our ability to positively impact them, in line with fundraising, campaigning and communications strategies and organisational objectives.Content Editor Responsibilities:- Develop the collection of case studies through the Stories Library process, responding to the different business needs for a variety of stories across RNIB.- Arranging and organising interviews over the phone / face-to-face. Asking leading questions that allow contributors to fully share their story.- Writing up interviews (from transcript and audio files) into engaging and powerful emotive stories that are relevant, timely and meaningful.- Investigating and following up on leads from across the organisation to make potential case studies.- Supports the day-to-day maintenance of content across the online Stories Library portal. Uploading content and helping to keep the online stories up-to-date with a full range of stories and relevant photographs.- Helping to manage the Stories Library network of volunteer reporters, Organising the flow of stories and ensuring that all contributions adhere to RNIB story guidelines and templates.Content Editor Requirements:- Strong writing skills, with the ability to follow up a lead and deliver a powerful, engaging story in a deadline-driven environment. Writing and editing content for a variety of channels and audiences. Knowledge of best practice in interviewing, writing and content delivery, with excellent written English and grammar.- Experience of editing and proofreading your own or someone else’s writing, working across a variety of communication channels such as websites, social media and / or marketing communications.- Experience of working as part of a busy team, while also being adaptable and using your own initiative to prioritise tasks and work autonomously when required.Desirable:- Experience of following set guidelines for written style and creating and updating style guides and templates as required.- Good knowledge of the voluntary sector, disability and equality issues. Experience of working within the charity or not for profit sector at a nationwide organisation.- Knowledge of current GDPR guidelines and experience of gaining informed consent.- Experience of working with vulnerable adults and / or children.- The ability to build a strong network of contacts both internally and externally.About RNIB Royal National Institute of Blind People:We’re the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) and we’re here for everyone affected by sight loss.
