Equality of opportunity is our policy.Consultant in Community PaediatricsThis is a fantastic opportunity to join our highly regarded Community Paediatrics department; a dynamic, enthusiastic and supportive group of Community Paediatricians, Nursing and Therapies staff in a diverse and exciting part of London. We are passionate about providing outstanding joined up care for our patients and their families and are always looking for ways to develop and improve the service, in line with the changing needs of our service users.This is one of 3 substantive consultant posts currently advertised due to retirement and reconfiguration of services to meet the current and anticipated future demands. This is an 8 PA replacement post and is one of an established team of consultant Community Paediatricians. Our team also includes Community Paediatric Specialty doctors, Level1-3 trainees, Clinical Psychologists, Speech & Language Therapists, Physiotherapists and Occupational therapists as well as Health Visiting and the Children’s Community Nursing teams.The post-holder will be expected to provide consultant input into the Paediatric Neurodisability Service, in neurodevelopment clinics, special school clinics and Autism assessment clinics. Other clinical duties include triage and supervision for Child Protection Medical assessments. The post holder will have opportunities to develop areas of special expertise in line with service priorities. The potential post-holder should also have relevant experience in quality improvement and service development, clinical management and leadership skills.The post-holder will be fully accredited in General Paediatrics and/or Community Child Health. Excellent communication & liaison skills and the ability to work within a multidisciplinary team are essential. As a University hospital, there is a strong commitment to teaching medical students and junior doctors. The post holder is expected to play an active role in all undergraduate and postgraduate training activities.The post will be based in the department of Community Paediatrics at Hackney Ark with clinical sessions undertaken at the Hackney Ark and other Community venues as required. Integrated MDT care is provided through co-location of integrated paediatric therapy services and CAMHS Disability at Hackney Ark. We have excellent established relationships with Social Care and Education services and as part of the Homerton University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust there are many opportunities for joint working and integration across Hospital and Community Paediatrics. The role does not include on-call duties in Acute Paediatrics.Applications will be welcomed from candidates included on or eligible for the GMC Specialist Register or within six months of obtaining CCT in Paediatrics.
