Do you have a passion for London and for improving the lives of the people who live, work and study here Do you have experience of working with communities and young people to make a positive difference Do you thrive on change, innovation and doing things differently We are looking for an experienced Community Engagement specialist to join the Mayor of Londons Violence Reduction Unit to support the Units new flagship place-based programme My Ends.My Ends is a £6 million investment programme, providing local communities with direct funding and support to deliver targeted interventions to tackle violence in areas of the capital that are affected by high and sustained levels of violence.Keeping Londoners safe is the Mayor of Londons top priority. The London VRU was set up by the Mayor in the autumn of 2018 as the first VRU in England and Wales. We are tasked with reducing and stabilising violence across the capital, increasing feelings of safety for all Londoners, and ensuring that communities and young Londoners are at the heart of sustainable and long-term change.This is a key role within an exciting and ambitious, multi-disciplinary team.You will have proven experience in building impactful community engagement strategies working on the frontline in communities affected by violence.You must be a driven individual with demonstrable experience in the following areas: Leading and delivering effective community organising and engagement strategies within communities and neighbourhoods across London. Creating stakeholder engagement plans using a range of tools and approaches. Exceptional influencing and negotiation skills, with ability to forge relationships in situations where divergent views exist. Understanding of culturally competent approaches and the importance of building equitable plans for engagement. Designing effective youth participation approaches which position young people at the heart of leading change. Knowledge and understanding of the VCS sector and grassroots organisations.The solution to reducing violence in London is Londons people and you will have the skills and knowledge to develop effective partnerships and to ensure and enable everyone in London can play their part in reducing violence.
