Job Description

We are seeking a friendly, experienced and committed Bank Phlebotomist to work within Community Services in Bedfordshire within the following areas:Chiltern Vale (Dunstable, Houghton Regis, Toddington, Leighton Buzzard)Mid Bedfordshire (Ampthill, Flitwick, Maulden etc)Ivel Valley (Shefford, Biggleswade, Sandy etc)BedfordMAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To Bleed patients using the standard techniques approved by the Department of Pathology, ensuring infection control policy is adhered to at all times. Often dealing with High Risk patients with hepatitis and HIV.
  • To transport the blood samples to a designated collection point, in all four centres.
  • To carry out related administrative duties as required to complete the patient episode including recording or collecting information from the Trusts electronic patient record system.
  • To maintain a clean and hygienic area for specimens to be stored.
  • To ensure strict compliance at all times [ on the assumption that all patients are potentially high risk,] with approved safety procedures and policies concerning Health & Safety at work.
  • To work as and when necessary at any Centre within ELFT trust sites
  • To undertake any relevant training activities as required by the post
