Job Description

Reports to: Internal Communications ManagerThis is a full-time, permanent position on Crick terms and conditions of employment.SummaryAs Communications Coordinator, you will help to keep staff informed and engaged, as well as inspiringpeople about the Cricks research and promoting the institutes reputation.The main objective of this role is to produce regular content and manage internal communications channels to ensure that our colleagues are kept informed and engaged with the Crick.You will also use your science writing expertise to produce features for our external audiences to enhance the Cricks reputation and increase awareness of our work. This role will also provide regular administrative support to the Communications Team.TheCrick has a strong profile as a leading biomedical research centre, and effective ongoing internal and external communications are essential to maintain that. The Communications team helps to position the Crick as a leader in the UK and global science community,promote public understanding of science and keep our staff informed.Key responsibilitiesThese include but are not limited to: Management of Internal Communications channels - producing, sourcing and developing content for Crick Internal Communications channels(newsletters, intranet, screens, Slack etc.) Producing regular content showcasing key areas of the Crick Responsible for writing science features for a public audience for the main crick website Working with Crick colleagues to help them promote their workBuilding relationships and networks across the crick to effectively share news and produce content Producing and collating the Cricks Research Highlights Providing additional support across the Communications team as necessary.Key experience and competenciesThepost holder should embody and demonstrate our core Crick values: bold, imaginative, open, dynamic and collegial, in addition to the following:EssentialQualifications, experience and competencies: Must have a proven interest in communications, and some demonstrableexperience Qualification in science communication or demonstrable knowledge of, and interest in, science communication. Outstanding written communication skills, and the ability to engage and build relationships with a range of audiences and stakeholders.Excellent interpersonal skills, enabling the post holder to influence at all levels and to work effectively as part of a team Basic photoshop / image editing Good time management and organisational skills and the proven ability to deliver work to tight deadlinesUnderstanding of content management systems and social platforms Excellent attention to detailDesirableQualifications, experience and competencies: Video production skills (Adobe Premier Pro) Experience of working closely with scientists or academicsDiversityis essential to excellence in scientific endeavour.
