Job Description

We have a great opportunity for an experienced Senior Manager with your experience to join the EMEA Commodities and Global Markets Finance team in our London office. The EMEA Commodities and Global Markets Finance team is responsible for the financialaffairs of Commodities and Global Markets regulated entities in EMEA and the global divisional support to Macquaries Commodities and Global Markets businesses (mainly Commodity Markets & Finance division). The team provides transaction advisory to all EMEACommodities and Global Markets divisions and provides them with support from a technical accounting perspective as well as covers broad responsibilities including, legal entity monitoring as well as financial control and assurance. The complexity of the businessesis high, with structures including physical and financial products. Volumes and complexity continue to increase as the business has been expanding therefore in-depth technical accounting skills and business partnering skills are critical to this role, whereascommodity business expertise would be a bonus. As part of the role, you will be the EMEA Commodities and Global Markets Business transactions lead with a team of two, consulting with Macquarie Commodities and Global Markets businesses to provide advice onthe correct IFRS accounting treatment for their respective transactions, new products, and other various projects. You will gain a solid understanding of the relevant businesses and with a global lens, you will partner with teams across the Financial ManagementGroup, including Group Treasury, Regulatory Reporting, Commodities and Global Markets Finance, Tax, Legal Entity Control and Group Financial Planning and Analysis to ensure transaction coordination activities are well managed. Your knowledge of technical accounting,transaction support and financial control will be leveraged as you regularly engage and consult with the business, other areas across finance, risk management and the senior leadership team. Your key responsibilities will include: business advisory for Commodities and Global Markets transactions and regionalaccounting advisory responsibilities for all Commodities and Global Markets divisions based in London & other locations review of proposed transactions / new products for appropriate accounting treatment, and coordinate Finance Management Group approvals assistancewith interpreting and practically applying accounting standards to Commodities and Global Markets transactions close partnership and liaison with Global Commodities and Global Markets Finance Accounting Lead, Product Control, Independent Valuations Team, RiskManagement Group Regulatory Affairs and Aggregate Risk and other Financial Management Group stakeholders. You will also be responsible for complete and accurate legal entity accounts for direct businesses including month end reviews and reconciliation oversightincluding detailed understanding of the balance sheet and its underlying transactions; team leadership, development, and wellbeing support; identifying and delivering improvement opportunities in the End-to-End environment by simplification, standardisation,and automation within Commodities and Global Markets Finance team and as part of key Financial Management Group wide strategic projects and Commodities and Global Markets Business; and you will also have responsibility and ownership over the work performedwithin the team, ensuring adherence with the Financial Control framework and Finance Control and Operating Standards, timetable and work plan, and maintaining high quality deliverables to Finance stakeholders (including Direct Tax, Indirect Tax, Regulatory,Treasury and Legal Entity Control). The successful candidate will be a Chartered Accountant with technical accounting, transaction support experience in Finance and Accounting Policy team. You will have demonstrated post qualified banking / finance experienceworking in a technical accounting role (8 plus years); strong knowledge across IFRS standards; strong client service skills, and control/ risk awareness; strong communication (both verbal and written), presentation and influencing skills; strong intellectualcuriosity, coupled with the ability to think logically and commercially; and the tenacity to get to the right outcome by performing thorough research. In addition to the above you will be a team player who can work in a methodical manner and accept accountabilityand ownership of team tasks; demonstrate established competency in planning and organising; you need to be a well-organized self-starter who can manage a range of competing priorities, transactions, and projects; and have strong attention to detail and beable to identify issues. You will also be expected to prioritise competing demands and manage stakeholder expectations as well as build relationships with multiple stakeholders in other functions and locations.
